• 1: A week after collecting his first collegiate singles victory in SMU men’s tennis team’s 8-1 loss to Macalester, Philip Apel (North Oaks, Minn.) picked up collegiate singles win No. 2, a straight-set victory at No. 6 singles, in the Cardinals’ 8-1 loss to Wartburg last Saturday.
• 1: Peyton Berg (Chatfield, Minn.) launched her first home run as a Cardinal — a two-run, first-inning shot in the SMU fastpitch softball team’s Game 1 win over Macalester last Sunday.
• 1 x 3: The Saint Mary’s track and field teams recorded three first-place finishes at last Saturday’s Saint Mary’s Invitational. Antonio Cisewski (Custer, Wis.) posted a mark of 6.54 to win the men’s long jump, while Morgan Wallendal (Fond du Lac, Wis.) uncorked a toss of 37.96 to win the women’s discus. The men’s 4x400 relay team of Garrett Jackson (West Linn, Ore.), Brady Johnson (Elburn, Ill.), Chris Bulwa (Glenview, Ill.), and Oliver Adamson (Rochester, Minn.), meanwhile, added a third first-place performance, stopping the clock in 3:22.47.
• 2: Trevon VanEgtern (La Crosse, Wis.) drove in two of the SMU baseball team’s three runs in their 5-3, Game 1 loss to Macalester last Friday, belting a two-run single in the bottom of the third inning.
• 2: The Saint Mary’s fastpitch softball team belted two home runs in its 9-6, Game 1 win over Macalester last Sunday. Peyton Berg (Chatfield, Minn.) hit hers in the first inning — a two-run shot — and Hall added a solo HR in the sixth.
• 2 x 2: Brandon Merfeld (La Crosse, Wis.) and Mason Coyle (Madison, Wis.) each recorded two-hit games in the SMU baseball team’s MIAC doubleheader against Bethel last Wednesday. Merfeld went 2-for-4 in the opener, while Coyle was 2-for-3 in Game 2.
• 3: Mason Coyle (Madison, Wis.) moved into a tie for the team lead in home runs, launching his third round-tripper of the year — a solo shot in the bottom of the first inning — in the Cardinal baseball team’s Game 2 loss to Bethel last Wednesday.
• 3-4 x 2: Allison Ciero (Glen Ellyn, Ill.) and Riley Hall (Dallas Center, Iowa) both put together 3-for-4 performances in the SMU fastpitch softball team’s sweep of UW-River Falls last Thursday. Ciero went 3-for-4 with two RBIs and a run scoring in the Cardinals 5-4, eight-inning win in Game 1, while Hall finished 3-for-4 with an RBI and two runs scored in SMU’s 5-3 victory in Game 2.
• 3-5: Cameron Weber (Holmen, Wis.) collected his team-leading seventh multiple-hit game in the second game of the SMU baseball team’s doubleheader against Macalester last Friday, going 3-for-5.
• 5: The Cardinal fastpitch softball team had five different players record two-hit games in their 8-0, 8-0 sweep of St. Scholastica last Friday. Riley Hall (Dallas Center, Iowa), Heather Nordlund (Byron, Minn.), and Cassie Sutor (Chicago, Ill.) all collected two hits in the opener, while Peyton Berg (Chatfield, Minn.) and Abbie Stigler (Menomonie, Wis.) matched that feat in Game 2.
• 5 + 5 = 2: The Saint Mary’s fastpitch softball team scored five runs in both games of its nonconference sweep of UW-River Falls last Thursday. SMU won the opener 5-4 in eight innings, before recording a 5-3 victory in Game 2. It was the Cardinals’ first doubleheader sweep of the season.
• 8-0 x 2: The SMU fastpitch softball team posted back-to-back 8-0, five inning wins over St. Scholastica last Friday. It was the Cardinals’ second straight doubleheader sweep.
• 10: Sarah Kraus (Onalaska, Wis.) tossed back-to-back, five-inning shutouts in leading the SMU fastpitch softball team to an 8-0, 8-0 sweep of St. Scholastica last Friday. Kraus allowed just four hits in the opener, while doing that one better with a three-hitter in the nightcap.
• 17: Peyton Berg (Chatfield, Minn.) and Riley Hall (Dallas Center, Iowa) combined to collected 17 hits in the Cardinal fastpitch softball team’s six games last week. Berg hit .500 (9-for-18) with two doubles, one homerun and five RBIs, while Hall hit .444 (8-for-18) with two doubles, a home run, five RBIs, and eight runs scored.
• 20: The Saint Mary’s track and field teams combined to post 20 Top 10 finishes at the Saint Mary’s Invitational last Saturday. The Cardinal men boasted nine Top 10 efforts, while the SMJ women finished with 11.
• 21, 19: The SMU fastpitch softball team had 21 different players play in the second game of last Tuesday’s MIAC doubleheader against St. Olaf. Nineteen Cardinals saw action in Game 1.
