NORTHFIELD, Minn. — It was another "measuring stick" day for the Saint Mary's University track and field teams, as the Cardinals squared off against eight fellow members of the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference during Saturday's St. Olaf Invitational.

And the Cardinals measured up quite well.

Saint Mary's posted 13 Top 10 performances — including a first-place effort by the men's 4x200 relay team, and second-place efforts by Brady Johnson (Elburn, Ill.) and Chris Bulwa (Glenview, Ill.).

Johnson collected his second-place individual effort in the triple jump with a mark of 12.68 meters, while Bulwa stopped the clock in 7.02 to earn second in the 60. The duo then teamed with Eddie Paton (Katy, Texas) and Oliver Adamson (Rochester, Minn.) to bring home first-place honors in the 4x200, breaking the tape in 1:32.80.

Johnson also chipped in a seventh in the 200 (23.72), with Adamson right on his heels with an eighth-place time of 23.77.

Sydney Jackman and Caroline Gearin (Osceola, Wis.) led the way for the SMU women, with Jackman placing fifth in the shot put with a throw of 11.37 meters and Gearin adding a fifth in the pole vault, clearing 2.80 meters.

Caeli McMahon (Holmen, Wis.) added a sixth in the 1,000 (3:22.14), while Samantha Kubes (New Prague, Minn.) recorded eighth-place throws of 14.43 meters in the weight throw and 11.05 meters in the shot put. Samantha Munson (Plain City, Utah) added an eight in the 60 (8.24), with Jaelyn Baseman (Litchfield, Minn.) finishing ninth in the shot put (11.05m) and Anna Becker (Cannon Falls, Minn.) delivering a 10th in the weight throw (13.65m).

The Cardinals are back in action, and back on the road next Saturday, when they head to Decorah, Iowa, to take part in the Luther Invitational.
