MANKATO, Minn. — The Saint Mary's University track and field teams had one final chance to make any final preparations ahead of next weekend's Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Indoor Championships — and the Cardinals made the most of that opportunity.
Saint Mary's collected eight Top 10 performances — and had 17 finishes in the Top 15 — including a fifth-place effort by
Chris Bulwa in the men's 200 and a sixth by
Caeli McMahon in the women's 800.
Bulwa stopped the clock in 22.42 to finish fifth in the 200, and was one of three Cardinal men to crack the Top 10, being joined by
Grant Schneider, who finished sixth in the 1,000 (2:40.92), and
Sean Smyth, who clocked a time of 4:38.58 to finish ninth in the mile.
McMahon led the way for the SMU women, breaking the tape in a sixth-place time of 2:31.67 in the 800, with
Samantha Kubes and
Samantha Munson chipping in eighth-place efforts in the weight throw (14.88 meters) and 60 (8.31), respectively. Munson also added a 10th-place time of 27.74 in the 200, and
Abbie Meyer clocked a 3:23.11 to finish 10th in the 1,000.
The Cardinals return to action next Friday and Saturday, heading to St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minn., for the two-day MIAC Indoor Championships.
