WINONA, Minn. — It was a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Outdoor Championships to remember for
Chris Bulwa (Glenview, Ill.),
Morgan Wallendal (Fond du Lac, Wis.), and
Samantha Kubes (New Prague, Minn.).
And Thursday afternoon, the Saint Mary's University trio led the way for the Cardinals when the conference office announced its post-season awards.
Bulwa picked up three conference accolades, earning All-MIAC honors for his third-place finish in the 100, while landing on the honorable-mention team in both the 200 and the 4x100 relay.
Wallendal and Kubes, meanwhile, each picked up All-MIAC recognition — Wallendal for her second-place showing in the shot put, and Kubes in the hammer throw, where she earned all-conference honors for a second straight year, thanks to a third-place effort.
Oliver Adamson (Rochester, Minn.) posted a pair of honorable-mention efforts, placing sixth in the 100, while joining Bulwa,
Jinwoo Jung (Morton Grove, Ill.), and
Brady Johnson (Elburn, Ill.) in finishing fourth in the 4x100.
Saint John's Kevin Arthur was named the men's Outdoor Track Athlete of the Meet, while St. Scholastica's Trent Beseth earned the Outdoor Field Athlete of the Meet honor and Augsburg's Kameron Smith took home Outdoor Rooke of the Meet accolades. Bethel's Andrew Rock was tabbed the MIAC Outdoor Coach of the Year.
On the women's side, Fiona Smith of Saint Benedict earned Outdoor Track Athlete of the Meet and Kelley Brennan of Gustavus was the Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week. Saint Benedict's Sabriya Farquharson picked up Outdoor Rookie of the Meet and Rock made it a sweep as Outdoor Coach of the Year.
