WINONA, Minn. — The Saint Mary's University women's tennis team had three players — seniors
Emily Henderson (Jordan, Minn.),
Ella Boomgaarden (St. Peter, Minn.), and
Peyton Buerman (Shawano, Wis. — who earned College Sports Communicators Academic All-District® honors, it was announced Tuesday.
The 2024 Academic All-District® Women's Tennis Team, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom.
Athletes must carry a 3.50 grade-point-average on a 4.0 scale, have competed in 90 percent of the institution's games OR must have started in at least 66 percent of the games, and made a significant on-field contribution to be eligible.
The Academic All-District® selection was the second straight for both Boomgaarden and Henderson, while Buerman landed her first academic honors.
Boomgaarden, a Mathematics major with a 3.80 grade-point-average, finished second on the team in singles wins with a single-season career-high nine, while also setting a career-high with 10 doubles victories. Henderson (Elementary Education/3.96 GPA) closed out her senior season with six wins in singles and eight in doubles, while Buerman (Marketing/3.80) chipped in five singles wins and nine doubles victories in her final year as a Cardinals.
Academic All-District® honorees advance to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced in early June.
