NORTHFIELD, Minn. — The Saint Mary's track and field team opened its true outdoor season in record-breaking fashion at the Manitou Classic, hosted by St. Olaf, highlighted by a pair of school records and a string of standout performances across the board.

Sophomore Mya Slavin wasted no time carrying her indoor momentum into the outdoor campaign, shattering the program record in the 1500m with a first-place time of 4:33.78. Senior Samantha Munson followed with a record-setting performance of her own, clocking a 25.31 in the 200m to secure a runner-up finish and etch her name into the school record books.

The Cardinals' success continued on the track, led by Gage Hatch, who sprinted to a first-place finish in the men's 100m (11.14). Jinqoo Jung (11.60) and Curtis Schupp (11.66) added depth to the event with sixth- and eighth-place finishes, respectively. Katherine Goergren added another victory for Saint Mary's, winning the 3000m steeplechase with a personal-best time of 12:31.87, while Ameryn Dostal claimed her first outdoor title in the triple jump with a mark of 10.19m.

Goi Ruei turned in a personal-best performance in the 400m, finishing sixth in 51.61, while Deni Zaharieva placed fourth in the 200m (26.76), just behind Munson. In the field events, Isabella Schei led the way in the hammer throw with a season-best 38.66m, followed closely by Suzette Alvarez (38.46m) and Ellie Hoffarth (36.28m), both posting personal-best marks.

Jackson Perkins delivered a strong showing in the men's triple jump, earning third place with a leap of 11.84m. Xara Gin highlighted the field events with a second-place, season-best finish in the pole vault (3.40m), while Ron White added a fifth-place finish in the hammer throw (45.26m) and took eighth in the shot put (12.37m).

Capping off the meet, the women's 4x100 relay team of the Munson sisters, Zaharieva, and Saamanen raced to a first-place finish in 49.60.

Saint Mary's returns to action on Saturday, April 18, competing not too far at UW-La Crosse.
