Vallez clocked a team- and season-best time of 26:43 to place 52nd overall at the National Catholic Championships hosted by Notre Dame in South Bend, Ind. Vallez, one of more than 280 runners in the men's field, narrowly missed his career-best eight-kilometer time of 26:41, set at the NCAA Central Regional a year ago.
