Kemper narrowly missed rewriting his own school record—and missed a top eight finish by millimeters—in placing 12th in the pole vault in his first-ever appearance in the NCAA Outdoor National Championships
After missing on his first vault at the opening height of 4.65 meters, Kemper was clean on try No. 2, and followed that up by clearing 4.80 meters—just shy of his school-record 4.87-meter effort—on his first attempt at that height, before coming up empty on his three tries at 4.90 meters.
