Last Meeting: The Royals' offense — which entered the game in the midst of a 595-minute scoreless drought — decided to use last season's MIAC showdown vs. SMU as their coming out party, scoring two goals in the game's opening 45 minutes en route to a 2-0 victory over SMU.

All-Time Series Record: Despite last season's loss, the Cardinals still boast a 14-6-2 record all time vs. Bethel since the 1983 season.

Cardinal Notes:
Last Satuday's win vs. St. Thomas not only snapped the Cardinals' season-high six-game losing streak, but it also put an end to SMU's 22-game MIAC winless streak (0-21-1). It was the Cardinals' first conference win since a since a 2-0 victory over Concordia on Sept. 30, 2006. … Saturday's win vs. UST was also the Cardinals' first since a 2-0 triumph in 2002. … Jon Szafranski (Barrington, Ill.) stopped six shots vs. the Tommies en route to his second shutout of the season and the fourth of his career. … With his six saves vs. UST, Szafranski — already the all-time career saves leader with 296 — moved within nine saves of SMU's single-season saves record of 152, set by Eric Luzzi in 1994. … Szafranski enters today's conference game leading the league in saves (75) and saves-per-game (9.23). … Szafranski has made 10 or more saves in seven of SMU's 14 games — including a season-high 16 saves in a 4-0 loss to Puget Sound on Sept. 6. … Steve Boussie (Troy, Mich) scored his third goal of the season vs. St. Thomas. It was the second straight game in which Boussie accounted for SMU's lone goal. … Boussie is now one of four Cardinal players with a team-best three goals. Adam Lindsay (Freemont, Wis.), Bobby Gas (Lake Zurich, Ill.) and Cristian Reyes (Goshen, Ind.) are the other three. … Gas also leads the team with seven points, while Lindsay, Boussie and Reyes are tied for second with six each. … Ryan Rademacher (La Crosse, Wis.) is the team's assist leader with four. … The Cardinals' 14 goals have come from six different players. … SMU has been held to one goal or less in 13 of its 17 games.

Royal Notes: Bethel's 1-0 victory over Simpson Wednesday was its second win in the Royals' last three games. … The win was also Bethel's second shutout win of the season. … Brandon Peplinski accounted for the game's only goal vs. Simpson, as the Royal sophomore scored with less than five minutes remaining in regulation. … Andreas Scott assisted on Peplinski's goal, giving the Royals' leading scorer 19 points on the season — including nine points in the last three games. Along with his team-high 19 points, Scott also leads the team in goals (6) and assists (7). …  Nick Cantor stopped all four Storm shots en route to his second shutout of the season. … Wednesday's win over the Storm was the Royals' fifth of the season, eclipsing their win total of a year ago. … Nine of Bethel's 17 games have been decided by one goal or less — the Royals are 3-6 in those nine one-goal games. … Bethel has been shut out in eight of its 12 losses. … The Royals have played two overtime games and have lost both — 4-3 vs. Saint John's on Oct. 1 and 1-0 vs. Augsburg on Oct. 17.
