Last Action: The Cardinals gave up run in the top of the seventh inning, as Hamline broke a 3-3 tie and handed SMU a 4-3 setback in the first game of their Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference doubleheader at the SMU Field Tuesday. The Pipers then completed the sweep, outlasting the Cardinals 5-2 in the nightcap. … Augsburg, meanwhile, gave No. 2-ranked St. Thomas all it could handle Tuesday, falling to the Tommies 4-1 and 3-2 in Minneapolis, Minn.

Last Meeting: Katy Gannon (Roselle, Ill.) went 6-for-8 with five runs scored, a double, home run and three RBIs, while Danielle Geske (Rosemount, Minn.) belted her team-leading sixth home run and drove in four runs, as the Cardinals posted a key 5-1, 9-4 sweep of Augsburg in Minneapolis, Minn., a year ago.

Saint Mary's Cardinal Notes: Despite their two losses to Hamline, the Cardinals' MIAC Tournament hopes remained a bit cloudy. With 10 conference games left, including two each vs. the conference's top two teams — Gustavus (Sunday) and St. Thomas (on April 26) — SMU is currently sitting at 6-6 and in sixth in the conference standings, two losses behind St. Catherine (8-4) and Bethel (6-4).  … Cassie Otte (Randolph, Minn.) collected two of SMU's three Game 1 hits vs. Hamline Tuesday, while Mallory Betzold (Farmington, Minn.) was 2-for-2 to fuel the Cardinals' five-hit Game 2 attack. … Four of SMU's five runs vs. the Pipers came in the sixth inning. …  SMU's 7-2, Game 1 loss vs. Concordia last Saturday was the Cardinals' first extra-inning game of the season and the longest extra-inning game since the 2006 season, when SMU played two nine-inning games, one 10-inning contest and one 11-inning marathon. … The Cobbers' seven runs in Game 2 Saturday marked the most allowed by SMU in a win since the Cardinals beat Buena Vista 17-9 on March 8, 2008. … Joanna Mangan (Chicago, Ill.) recorded her first collegiate four-hit gamein Game 2 vs. Concordia. SMU opened the season with a 29-0 rout of North Central (Minn.) on March 14. … SMU's 27- and 29-run outbursts were the second- and third-most runs scored in school history, behind the 43 runs the Cardinals plated in a 43-2 win over St. Catherine on April 24, 1997. … The Cardinals have scored 10 or more runs eight times this season. … The Cardinals have outscored their first 24 opponents 178-84 — including 33-5 in the second inning and 48-18 in the third. Augsburg Auggie Notes: Tuesday's Game 1 loss to St. Thomas snapped the Auggies' four-game winning streak. … After opening the season with losses in 18 of their first 20 games, Augsburg is 7-5 in its last 12. … Tiffany Magnuson boasts a team-best .407 batting average, while also leading the team in at-bats (86), runs (23), hits (35), doubles (5), triples (5), total bases (50), slugging percentage (.581), on-base percentage (.514) and stolen bases (16). … Magnuson, who enters today's games riding a team-high nine-game hitting streak, also boasts 11 multiple-hit games, while Kylee Persing has collected six multiple-RBI games, including a four-RBI effort in the Auggies' 11-8 Game 2 loss to St. Catherine on April 2. … Magnuson has not been thrown out trying to steal, going a perfect 16-for-16.
