Last Action:
The Cardinals' playoff push took a serious hit on Sunday, as SMU dropped both games in a conference doubleheader against Saint Benedict. The Blazers got a walk-off home run off the bat of Shannon Eveland in the bottom of the eighth inning of CSB's 3-2 Game 1 win, then got a walk-off, RBI single by Elle Borba in the bottom of the eighth inning in a 7-6 CSB win in Game 2. St. Catherine, meanwhile, stepped out of conference play on Sunday, dropping back-to-back games to UW-Stout, 5-0 and 5-4, in Menomonie, Wis.

Last Meeting — April 18, 2009:
The Cardinals erupted for five runs in the top of the fifth inning and rode the three-hit pitching of Jaci Prondzinski (Ettrick, Wis.) in handing the Wildcats an 8-0, five-inning setback. Unfortunately for SMU, the Cardinals' performance wasn't quite that impressive in the opener, as St. Catherine used a pair of big innings — a two-run third and a three-run fifth en route to a 6-3 victory in St. Paul, Minn.

MIAC Playoff Picture:
SMU?enters today's DH?with four conference games remaining and sitting in seventh place, two losses behind Augsburg (11-7), Bethel (9-7) and Saint Benedict (9-7). Augsburg finishes with games vs. St. Olaf and Bethel, while CSB?faces St. Thomas (15-1), Gustavus (14-2) and Bethel. SMU?must win its last four — vs. St. Catherine and Carleton — and hope Augsburg loses at least two of its last four, while Bethel and Saint Benedict must lose at least three. SMU holds the head-to-head tiebreaker vs. Augsburg, but Bethel and CSB each swept the Cardinals to own the head-to-head tiebreaker.

Saint Mary's Cardinals Around The Horn:

Katy Gannon (Roselle, Ill.) — who went 5-for-6 with a three-run home run, 4 RBIs and four runs scored in SMU's sweep of Concordia last Saturday — was held to just two hits in eight at-bats against Saint Benedict, but still closed out the week hitting a team-best .400 (10-for-25) in SMU's eight games last week. … Gannon's three-run, fifth-inning home run against Concordia last Saturday was her team-leading third of the season. … Angie Diercks (Red Wing, Minn.) enjoyed one of the best weeks of her collegiate career last week, hitting .389 (7-for-18) with two doubles, a home run, three RBIs and four runs scored.
