DULUTH, Minn. — The Saint Mary's University tennis teams kick off their 2011 season this weekend, taking on St. Scholastica, UM-Duluth and Bemidji State Saturday and Sunday.

Michael Lunka (Eagan, Minn.) and
Bobby Steingraeber (La Crosse, Wis.) — who won three straight matches before bowing out in the USTA/ITA Central Regional quarterfinals in late September — earned the Central Region's No. 14 ranking when the first regional rankings were announced on Nov. 5. The Cardinal duo is currently the highest-ranked doubles team in the MIAC. …
Bailey Edwards (Fond du Lac, Wis.) — who reached the USTA/ITA quarterfinals in singles play in late September — is the 14th-ranked singles player in the Central Region. …
Rebecca Snyder (Eden Prairie, Minn.) was named to the All-MIAC First Team for the second year in a row in 2010, while Edwards also earned First Team honors. … Snyder closed out her sophomore season with a 15-4 record at No. 2 singles, while Edwards finished 16-6 at No. 1. … Edwards' 16 wins equaled the single-season school record and her 27 wins in her first two seasons at SMU are seventh all-time — just 10 wins shy of the career record. … Snyder is second in single-season wins (15) and eighth in career wins (26). … Lunka and Steingraeber earned First Team All-MIAC honors in doubles in 2010. … Lunka and
