WINONA, Minn. — The Saint Mary's University women's soccer team closes out its home schedule — and bids farewell to its three graduating seniors — on Wednesday, as the Cardinals host Macalester in a 7 p.m. MIAC game at Ochrymowycz Field.

UW-River Falls broke a scoreless tie with 51 seconds remaining in the first half and went on to hand the Cardinals a 2-0 nonconference setback Monday at Ochryowycz Field. … Macalester, meanwhile, got a goal from Georgia Cloepfil early in the second overtime to lift the Scots to a 1-0 win over St. Catherine Saturday in St. Paul, Minn.

October 26, 2011: The Cardinals made one mistake — and Macalester made the Cardinals pay for it, as Margaret Nemetz got free to beat SMU goalkeeper Cassie Hulett with the game's only goal in a 1-0 Scots' win in St. Paul, Minn.

Wednesday's game is the final home game for SMU seniors Katie Rivers (Richfield, Minn.), Miranda Cole (Barrington, N.H.) and Sloane Kuramoto (Rochester, Minn.). … Wednesday's game vs. Macalester is also the third of three straight home games for SMU, which closes out its season at Augsburg on Saturday. … With their game against Macalester on Wednesday and Augsburg on Saturday, the Cardinals will have closed out the season having played four games in an eight-day stretch. … Miranda Halling (Rochester, Minn.) made her 16th straight start in goal for the Cardinals against UW-River Falls Monday. Macalester enters the final week of the regular season in a battle for one of the four MIAC post-season berths. Concordia has already locked up the conference's regular-season championship and the post-season tournament's No. 1 seed, but Augsburg (5-2-2), Bethel (5-2-2), Saint Benedict (5-3-1), St. Olaf (4-3-2), Hamline (4-4-1), Macalester (4-4-1) and St. Thomas (4-4-1) are all battling for the remaining three spots. … Wednesday's game against Saint Mary's is the first of back-to-back road games to close out the regular-season for the Scots, who head to Gustavus on Saturday. … With their double-overtime win over St. Catherine Saturday, the Scots improved to 3-1-0 in their last four games. … Four of Macalester's six losses this season have been by one goal. … Saturday's 2 OT win vs. St Catherine improved the Scots to 2-0-1 in overtime games this season — Macalester beat Hamline 4-3 in overtime on Sept. 22 and tied Carleton 0-0 four days later. … Macalester has scored a season-high five goals twice this season — beating Nebraska Wesleyan and Augsburg by identical 5-0 scores. … Georgia Cloepfil scored her team-leading 11th goal of the season to lift Macalester to its 1-0, double-overtime win over St. Catherine Saturday. … Cloepfil also leads the team in assists (7) and points (29), while Bonnie Gale is second in goals (6) and points (12). … Cloepfil and Gale have accounted for 18 of the team's 28 goals. … Rosie Glenn-Finer and Ellen Palmquist have shared the team's goalkeeping duties, with Glenn-Finer compiling a 0.97 goals-against-average and a .769 save percentage in 556 minutes played, while Palmquist owns a 1.19 GAA and a .780 save percentage in 830 minutes. … Macalester has outscored its opponents 11-7 in the first half and 17-10 after halftime. … Macalester boasts a 4-2-1 road record this season.
