WINONA, Minn. — The Saint Mary's University women's soccer team returns to Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play on Saturday, as the Cardinals entertain St. Catherine in a 1 p.m. game at Ochrymowycz Field.

The Cardinals' three-goal effort against No. 16 Loras was their highest offensive output of the season, and the most goals scored in a single game since netting three goals in a 3-1 win over St. Catherine on Oct. 16, 2011. … Bethany Schmidt (Sparta, Wis.) — who led the team in scoring a year ago — netted her second goal of the season against the Duhawks Wednesday, while Emma Schaefer (Falcon Heights, Minn.) and Heidi Martin (Ankeny, Iowa) each scored their first collegiate goals to account for SMU's other two tallies vs. Loras. … Schaefer and Martin become the latest Cardinals to net their first collegiate goals — Caroline Blackwood (Norwalk, Ohio) and Kelli Harstad (Hampton, Minn.) have also tallied their first goals in a Cardinal uniform this season. … SMU's five assists this year have come from five different players — Blackwood, Katie Holmes (Edina, Minn.), Schaefer, Megan Nitzsche (St. Francis, Wis.) and Katie Nicoson (Fairmont, Minn.). … Aubrie Cornell (Holts Summit, Mo.) stopped a career-high 11 shots against the Duhawks Wednesday evening. … Cornell and Miranda Halling (Rochester, Minn.) have shared the goalkeeper duties for the Cardinals this season.
