Kortney Wobbe (Wabasha, Minn.) turned in the Saint Mary's University women's golf team's best round of the tournament on Sunday, as the Cardinal freshman carded a 95 during the second round of the 54-hole Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Championships.
Fueled by Wobbe's 95 and a 98 by
Jennie Marx (Austin, Minn.), SMU posted a 393 second-day total — one stroke better than Saturday's opening round — leaving the Cardinals in 11th place in the three-day tournament at Bunker Hills Golf Course.
Wobbe shaved four shots off her opening-round 99 for a 194 two-day total, three shots better than Marx, who went 99-98 for her 197.
Kelsey Stenzel (Wabasha, Minn.) and
Haley Jung (Monticello, Minn.), who shot team-best 98s in Saturday's first round, followed with a 100 and a 102 — leaving them at 198 and 200, respectively.
Madison Gately (Glenview, Ill.) rounded out the Cardinal lineup, carding a second-round 100 for a 207 total.
Carleton fired its second straight 318 team total and clings to a one-shot lead over St. Thomas head into Monday's final round. Gustavus is currently third at 646, followed by St. Olaf (656) and Saint Benedict (660).
Shannon Holden of Carleton notched her second five-over-par 77 and shares the second round lead with Saint Benedict's Bridget Cummings (73-81) and St. Thomas' Erin Dingmann (75-79).
The Cardinals return to Bunker Hills on Monday morning for the final round of the season-ending conference tournament.
