COON RAPIDS, Minn. — There's something about the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Championships that brings out the best in Saint Mary's University's Jennie Marx (Austin, Minn.).

A year ago, Marx recorded her career-best 18-hole score during the opening round of the conference championships, firing a first-round 97.

Monday afternoon, she was at it again.

Marx shattered that collegiate-best effort, as the Cardinal sophomore shot a 92 during the final round of the MIAC Championships Monday at Bunker Hills Golf Course, leading SMU to its best team score of the three-day tournament (389) and an 11th-place overall finish.

It was the second straight year that Marx posted all three rounds in the 90s at the conference championships, finishing with a team-best 54-hole 289 total (99-98-92). Kortney Wobbe (Wabasha, Minn.), who recorded the team's low round on Sunday with a 95, finished at 294 (99-95-100), while Haley Jung (Monticello, Minn.) and Kelsey Stenzel (Wabasha, Minn.) chipped in a pair of 300s — Jung going 98-102-100 and Stenzel shooting 98-100-102. Madison Gately (Glenview, Ill.) completed the SMU lineup with a 304 (107-100-97).

St. Thomas was crowned the conference's team champion, shooting a final-round 314 to edge Carleton by one stroke, 951-952. Gustavus was third at 972, with Saint Benedict (995) and Bethel (1003) rounding out the top five.

Carleton's Shannon Holden rifled the day's best round, a three-over 75 Monday, to capture medalist honors with a 229 total (77-77-75), two shots better than St. Thomas Erin Digmann (75-79-77—231). Saint Benedict's Bridget Cummings was third at 232 (73-81-78), with Doyle O'Brien and Rachel Morris of St. Thomas close behind at 233 (79-77-77) and 238 (83-79-76), respectively.
