WINONA, Minn. — After earning Honorable-Mention All-Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference honors as a freshman last season, the biggest question facing Saint Mary's University defender Fernando Camacho (Chicago, Ill.) heading into his sophomore campaign was, "What are you going to do for an encore?"

Camacho let his play on the field do his talking, and that play earned the Cardinal sophomore a second straight honorable-mention all-conference honor.

Zach Palma (Washburn, Wis.) joined Camacho on the conference's awards podium, as the SMU senior also garnered honorable-mention honors.

Camacho appeared in all 18 games for the Cardinals, collecting his first collegiate goal, while also adding an assist for a single-season career-high three points. From his defender position, Camacho also helped spearhead a defense that compiled a 1.71 goals-against-average.

Like Camacho, Palma was in the lineup in all 18 of SMU's games this season, scoring his third collegiate goal and finishing with two points. Palma played in 61 games in his four-year collegiate career, scoring three goals and adding an assist for seven points.

Gustavus swept the conference's top honors, as Zach Brown — among the MIAC's leaders in goals, points and shots — was named MIAC Player of the Year, while Mike Middleton, who led the Gusties to a conference regular-season title and an NCAA national tournament berth, earned MIAC Coach of the Year honors.

As part of the conference-wide sportsmanship initiative, the MIAC also announced the seventh annual All-MIAC Sportsmanship team for men's soccer, which included SMU's Joey Petrich (Elk RIver, Minn.)
