All-MIAC Women's Soccer Teams
WINONA, Minn. — In her first collegiate soccer season a year ago, Saint Mary's University's
Caroline Blackwood (Norwalk, Ohio) made a lasting impression, being named to the Honorable-Mention All-Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference team.
And there certainly was no sophomore slump for the Cardinal midfielder, as Blackwood earned her second straight honorable-mention all-conference honor, it was announced Wednesday.
Unlike a year ago, however, Blackwood was not alone on that honorable-mention squad, as Cardinal teammate
Emma Schaefer (Falcon Heights, Minn.) also earned that conference distinction.
Blackwood started all 18 games for the second straight season in 2013, recording her first two collegiate goals and adding an assist for a career-high five points. In her first year as a Cardinal, Schaefer appeared in 17 of the team's 18 goals, netting her first collegiate goal and adding an assist for three points.
Macalester senior Georgia Cloepfil, who led the conference in goals (19) and points (50), was named the MIAC Player of the Year, while Steve Kimble, who guided Saint Benedict to MIAC regular-season and playoff championships, was tabbed MIAC Coach of the Year.
As part of the conference-wide sportsmanship initiative, the MIAC also announced the eighth annual All-MIAC Sportsmanship team for women's soccer, which included SMU's
Bethany Schmidt (Sparta, Wis.)
