MADISON, Wis. — The Saint Mary's University men's tennis team steps out of conference play on Saturday, as the Cardinals square off against Edgewood and Augustana in a pair of nonconference matches at the Nielson Tennis Center.

The Cardinals are coming off a 1-1 showing in their two Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference matches last weekend. SMU cruised to a 6-3 win over Hamline at the Winona Tennis Center last Friday, then dropped an 8-1 decision to St. Thomas at the Anderson Center in St. Paul, Minn., on Saturday. … The Eagles closed out their six-match spring trip in Hilton Head, S.C., on March 14, falling to Mount Union 8-1. … Augustana, meanwhile, has been off since March 16, when the Vikings suffered a 9-0 setback to Coe in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

February 12, 2012: SMU kicked off its second straight double-dual in impressive fashion, as the Cardinals cruised to an 8-1 nonconference victory over Edgewood at the Winona Tennis Center. SMU then followed that up with a 9-0 win over Martin Luther.

Saturday's match will be the first in program history between Saint Mary's and Augustana.

SMU's 6-3, spring trip-opening loss to Ursinus is its lone non-league loss this season. … Collin Kaczorowski (Suamico, Wis.) picked up a pair of singles wins last weekend against Hamline and St. Thomas to push his singles winning streak to seven in a row.
