GameDay Preview
OWATONNA, Minn. — The Saint Mary's University men's tennis team didn't waste any time picking up a 9-0 victory over Bethany Lutheran Saturday afternoon.
Sixty-four minutes to be exact.
But then, the fact that the Cardinals only had to play four of the nine matches had something to do with that.
Injuries and illnesses forced Bethany Lutheran to forfeit two of the three doubles matches and three of the singles matches, making life that much easier for SMU.
In the matches the Cardinals did play, they dominated, as
Collin Kaczorowski (Suamico, Wis.),
Warren Lawrenz (Rochester, Minn.) and
Blake Olmscheid (Farmington, Minn.) all won in straight sets — without dropping a game — while Olmscheid and Kaczorowski were 8-1 winners at No. 1 doubles.
The Cardinals, who improve to 14-5 overall, are back in action on Sunday, traveling to Sartell, Minn., for a 5 p.m. Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference match against Saint John's.
