ST. PAUL, Minn. — The Saint Mary's University men's tennis team closes out the regular season on Saturday, as the Cardinals head to Macalester for a 4 p.m. Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference match against the Scots.

April 22, 2012: It wasn't the way the Saint Mary's University men's tennis team was hoping to write the final chapter to the 2012 season, but Cardinal coach Jeff Halberg certainly can't fault the effort, as SMU fell just short in dropping a 5-4 conference decision to the Scots at the Winona Tennis Center.

Saturday's match is the regular-season finale for the Cardinals. With a win over the Scots, however, the Cardinals would extend their season a week. SMU's post-season hopes are cut-and-dried — a win over Macalester Saturday, as the Cardinals are playing in the conference tournament next Friday and Saturday.
