LAKE CITY, Minn. — The Saint Mary's University women's golf team opened its season Friday, squaring off against Macalester in a dual meet at The Jewel.

Unfortunately for the Cardinals, Macalester's depth proved to be too much, as the Scots handed SMU a 338-433 setback.

Brittany Stenzel (Wabasha, Minn.) — playing in her first collegiate match — led the way for SMU, shooting a 102. Kortney Wobbe (Wabasha, Minn.) and Kelsey Stenzel (Wabasha, Minn.) chipped in 105s, while Madison Gately (Glenview, Ill.) and Jennie Marx (Austin, Minn.) recorded 107s and Haley Jung (Monticello, Minn.) tallied a 116.

The Cardinals are back in action next week, squaring off against Bethany Lutheran in a dual match at Cedar Valley Golf Course on Thursday, before traveling to Waverly, Iowa, to take part in the Wartburg Invitational Saturday and Sunday.
