GameDay Preview
LA CROSSE, Wis. —
Madison Gately (Glenview, Ill.) couldn't match her collegiate performance during the opening round of the Viterbo Invitational on Saturday — but she came awfully close.
Gately, who carded her lowest round as a Cardinal when she posted a 94 Saturday at the La Crosse Country Club, came back on Sunday with a 96 to finish at 190 and lead the Saint Mary's University women's golf team to an eighth-place showing during the 36-hole event.
Grand Viewwon the tournament, posting a 36-hole score of 661, while host Viterbo was second with a 678. Clarke notched a 695, with St. Ambrose (698) and AIB College (721) rounding out the top five.
Along with Gately's effort Sunday,
Jennie Marx (Austin, Minn.) chipped in a 97 for the Cardinals, while
Kortney Wobbe (Wabasha, Minn.) tallied a 100,
Haley Jung (Monticello, Minn.) added a 106 and
Dana Testa notched a 116.
Gately finished the two-day tournament at 190 (94-96), followed by Wobbe (101-100—201), Marx (114-97—211), Jung (107-106—213) and Testa (118-116—234).
Grand View's Nicole McDonald took home medalist honors, carding rounds of 80-75—155. St. Ambrose's Abby Frideres was second, six shots back (78-83—161), followed by Erin Isaacson of Viterbo (82-83—165) and AIB's Jenna Hansen (82-83—165).
The Cardinals are now off until Oct. 4-5-6, when they travel to Bunker Hills Golf Course in Coon Rapids, Minn., for the 54-hole, season-ending Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Championships.
