ST. PETER, Minn. — After going a perfect 4-for-4 in their first four matches at the Gustavus Midwest Open, the Saint Mary's University of Minnesota men's tennis duo of Warren Lawrenz (Rochester, Minn.) and Alex Holm (Red Wing, Minn.) had their run to come to an end Sunday afternoon.
 
Lawrenz-Holm, who teamed for wins of 8-2, 8-4, 8-5, and 8-6 to open tournament play, dropped a heartbreaker in the semifinals, falling to UW-La Crosse's Sam Gowan and Mdekim Dejene, 8-6.
 
The Cardinals kick off their 2016 spring season on Jan. 29, entertaining Bethany Lutheran in a 5 p.m. nonconference match at the Winona Tennis Center.
