WAVERLY, Iowa — The Saint Mary's University of Minnesota women's golf team got an 87 from
Kaitlin Kling (LeRoy, Minn.) and an 88 from
Haley Jung (Monticello, Minn.) Sunday, as the Cardinals placed 13th in the Wartburg Invitational at Centennial Oaks Golf Course.
The Cardinals, who held the 13th spot after Saturday's opening round 369, shaved two strokes off that team scoring in Sunday's final round—thanks in large part to the efforts of Kling and Jung.
Kling finished with a 170 36-hole total, opening with an 83 before adding Sunday's 87, while June opened with a 92 to go with Sunday's 87 for a 180 two-day total.
Madison Gately (Glenview, Ill. / 88-93—181),
Michaela Heuckendorf (Plymouth, Minn. / 106-99—205) and
Tiarra Thompson (Jonesboro, Ga. / 116-120—236) rounded out the Cardinals' lineup.
The Cardinals are back in action next Saturday and Sunday, taking part in the Carleton Division 3 Classic at The Jewel in Lake City, Minn.
