WAVERLY, Iowa — Saint Mary's University of Minnesota's
Kaitlin Kling (LeRoy, Minn.) kicked off her golf season with a pair of 85s to lead the Cardinals at last weekend at the Saint Benedict Invitational.
And the Cardinal sophomore picked up right where she left off in the opening round of the Wartburg Invitational Saturday, whittling two shots off her season-opening efforts, firing an 83 to help Saint Mary's to a 13th-place showing after Day 1 of the 36-hole event.
Madison Gately (Glenview, Ill.) chipped in an 99, while
Haley Jung (Monticello, Minn. / 92),
Michaela Heuckendorf (Plymouth, Minn. / 106), and
Tiarra Thompson (Jonesboro, Ga. / 116) rounded out the Cardinals' lineup.
The Cardinals return to Centennial Oaks Golf Course for the second round of the two-day event on Sunday.
