DECORAH, Iowa — With the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Women's Golf Championships right around the corner, Saint Mary's University of Minnesota's
Haley Jung (Monticello, Minn.) picked the perfect time to be playing her best golf of the season.
And of her career.
For the second day in a row, Jung carded a career-best round on Saturday during the second day of the Luther Invitational, as the junior posted a career-low 81 to help the Cardinals to a second-0place finish in the five-team event, held at the Oneota Golf Course.
Jung, who shot an opening-round 83, finished with a 164 total to finish third overall.
Kaitlin Kling (LeRoy, Minn.) chipped in an 96-85—171, followed by
Madison Gately (Glenview, Ill.) who was third for the Cardinals with an 89-87—176.
Paula Avila (Weslaco, Texas / 95-95—190) and
Tiarra Thompson (Jonesboro, Ga. / 105-105—210) rounded out the Saint Mary's top five.
The Cardinals will close out the 2015 portion of their schedule next weekend, taking part in the 54-hole conference championships, held at Bunker Hills Golf Course in Coon Rapids, Minn. Play will begin on Saturday and conclude on Monday.
