NEW BERLIN, Wis. — The Saint Mary's University of Minnesota men's tennis team picked up Saturday morning right where they left off Friday night—leaving the Moorland Park Tennis Center with a victory.
Fresh off an 8-1 nonconference win over Carroll on Friday, the Cardinals recorded their second win in less than 12 hours, beating Concordia (Wis.) 7-2.
For the second straight match, the Cardinals opened against Concordia (Wis.) with a sweep of the three doubles matches—but it wasn't easy.
Collin Kaczorowski (Suamico, Wis.) and
Blake Olmscheid (Farmington, Minn.) picked up a marathon 9-7 win at No. 1, while
Alex Holm (Red Wing, Minn.) and
Warren Lawrenz (Rochester, Minn.) needed a 10-2 win in the tiebreaker for a 9-8 win at No. 2.
Brenden Amiotte (Rapid City, S.D.) and
Alex Zuzek (Hasitngs, Minn.) completed the sweep with an 8-0 win at No. 3.
Kaczorowski, Amiotte,
Brett Giesen (Cato, Wis.), and Lawrenz added straight-set singles wins, while the Falcons picked up their two wins with three-set victories at No. 5 and No. 6.
The Cardinals (3-1 overall) are right back on the court at 12:30 p.m., squaring off against Carthage.
