NEW BERLIN, Wis. — The Saint Mary's University of Minnesota men's tennis team's perfect nonconference run hit a brick wall Saturday afternoon, as regionally ranked Carthage handed the Cardinals a 9-0 setback at the Moorland Park Tennis Center.
Carthage opened play with 8-2, 8-2, and 8-3 wins in the doubles portion of the match, before adding straight-set wins in all six singles matches.
The Cardinals (3-2 overall)—who had opened the day with a 7-2 win over Concordia (Wis.) for its third striaght nonconference win—close out their four-match Wisconsin "tour" on Sunday, heading to the YMCA Courts in Fond du Lac, Wis., for a 9 a.m. nonconference showdown against UW-Oshkosh.
