DULUTH, Minn. — The Saint Mary's University of Minnesota women's tennis team hits the road for a busy weekend, as the Cardinals travel to Arrowhead Tennis Center for nonconference matches against St. Scholastica (11 a.m.) and UM-Duluth (5 p.m.) on Saturday, before heading to Superior, Wis., for a 9 a.m. showdown against UW-Superior.

• February 6, 2011 * Duluth, Minn.: Bailey Edwards and Rebecca Snyder completed a perfect weekend with straight-set victories at No. 1 and No. 2 singles to lead the Cardinals to a 6-3 win over UM-Duluth. • With their season-opening win over Martin Luther last Friday, the Cardinals have now opened the season with a 9-0 victory in three straight seasons. … The Cardinals are now 11-0 in their last 11 meetings with Martin Luther. … The Cardinals, who went 7-1 in nonconference play a year ago, are now 43-13 in non-MIAC matches since 2012. … Colleen Lois (Green Bay, Wis.) and Laura Sonday (West St. Paul, Minn.) teamed up to post wins at No. 1 doubles against both Martin Luther and Carleton last weekend. … The Cardinals won all six singles matches against Martin Luther in straight sets. • Saturday's match against Saint Mary's is the third straight home match for the Saints, who will play their next seven matches on the road—not returning home to the Arrowhead Tennis Center in Duluth, Minn., until March 24, when they host Crown. … Saint Mary's is the second of three consecutive matches against teams from the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference—CSS has already played Concordia (W, 7-2) and will face Macalester next Saturday. … Sarah Coryell and Katelyn Rice have each opened the season with back-to-back singles wins. Rice is 1-0 at Nos. 2 and 3 singles, while Coryell's wins have come at Nos. 4 and 5. … Alexia Brascugli and Taylor Hays also own singles wins for the Saints this season. … Emma Bartels is unbeaten in doubles play through two matches, teaming with Syd Holt for an 8-4 win at No. 3 against Concordia and with Brascugli for an 8-1 win at No. 3 against UM-Duluth. … St. Scholastica owns a 7-5 singles record in its first two matches this season, while going 3-3 in doubles play.

• The 2018 season will be the first for the Yellowjacket women's tennis program. UW-Superior announced in April, 2016, that it would be adding men's and women's tennis for the 2018 season, and in December, 2016, announced that Kolin Dean—former assistant coach at St. Scholastica—would be the program's first head coach. … UW-Superior is in its first season as a full member of the UMAC, having been accepted for membership in 2014 after more than 100 years in the WIAC. … Sunday's match against Saint Mary's is the second of three straight contests against teams from the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. UW-Superior has also faced Concordia (L, 7-2) and will square off against Hamline next Sunday. The Yellowjackets will also face MIAC foe Saint Benedict on March 17 in St. Joseph, Minn. … The Yellowjackets' No. 1 doubles team of Alison Tollas/Mariah Linder recorded the program's first victory, posting an 8-3 victory over Concordia last Sunday. … Emily Wald, meanwhile, notched the program's first singles victory with a 6-4, 4-6, 10-8 marathon win over Concordia's Kendra Stoick at No. 2 last Sunday. … Five of the Yellowjackets' six singles matches against Concordia last Sunday went to a third set.
