ORLANDO, Fla. — The Saint Mary's University of Minnesota women's tennis team returns to action on Tuesday, as the Cardinals square off against Hanover College as part of their spring trip.

• Monday's match against Davenport (Mich.) was the fifth of seven straight road matches for the Cardinals, who do not return to the Winona Tennis Center until March 10, when they host Hamline in a conference matchup. … The Cardinals' 9-0 conference-opening loss to defending regular-season MIAC champion Gustavus snapped their two-match winning streak. … Julia Boeve (St. James, Minn.) — who had dropped just one game in winning her two singles matches to open the season — had her career-high 12-match winning streak snapped with a three-set, 5-7, 6-3, 10-4 loss to Gustavus on Feb. 9. Boeve rebounded with a 6-3, 6-2 win against St. Scholastica and is now to 12-4 in her last 16 matches. … Boeve, Laura Sonday (West St. Paul, Minn.), and Cassandra Barr (Eau Claire, Wis.) share the team lead with three singles wins each. … Sonday — who shared the team lead in singles wins a year ago (16) with Boeve — played her 66th consecutive match at No. 1 singles against Davenport (Mich.) on Monday. … Kennedy Morgan's (Green Bay, Wis.) win at No. 5 singles against Northwestern on Feb. 1 was her first collegiate singles victory. She becomes the third Cardinal to pick up collegiate win No. 1 this season, joining Kailee Johnson (Rochester, Minn.) and Madyson Schreiber (Edwardsville, Ill.), who notched their first singles wins against Martin Luther on Jan. 25. …  Sonday and Colleen Lois (Green Bay, Wis.) — who went 15-4 as a doubles pair a year ago — have won three doubles matches together this season. … Ashley Fredrickson (St. James, Minn.) is second to both Sonday and Lois with two doubles wins through four matches. … With their 6-1 loss to Davenport (Mich.) on Monday, the Cardinals are now 51-20 against nonconference opponents since 2012. … With their season-opening win over Martin Luther on Jan. 25, the Cardinals have now opened the season with a 9-0 victory in four straight seasons. … The Cardinals are now 12-0 in their last 12 meetings with Martin Luther. … Sonday earned All-MIAC singles and doubles honors following her junior season a year ago, while Boeve collected her first collegiate First-Team All-MIAC singles honor, and Lois was a First-Team All-MIAC doubles selection in her first year as a Cardinal.

• The Panthers had their season-opening 12-match winning streak snapped with their 8-1 neutral-site loss to 12th-ranked Sewanee (Tenn.) on Feb. 16. … Hanover's 12-0 start to the start was the best in program history. … Seven of Hanover's 12 matches this season have been by sweeps — four 9-0 victories and a 5-0 triumph over Transylvania in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Tournament final on Oct. 21. … The Panthers' win over Transylvania earned them their fifth conference tournament title in the last six years. … Hanover's HCAC Tournament title also earned the Panthers an automatic berth into the 2019 NCAA Division III national tournament. … Ruth Gaston, Cami Jones, and Mia Katzenberger headed into the Panthers' spring trip sharing the team lead with 10 singles wins each, two more than Addison Laker. … All 10 of Jones' wins have come at No. 1 singles, where she is 10-1. Gaston has picked up singles wins at No. 2 (2-1), No. 3 (1-0), Nov. 4 (6-0), and No. 5 (1-0) en route to her 10 wins, while Katzenberger is 1-0 at No. 4, 2-0 at No. 5, and 7-1 at No. 6. … Gaston and Jones also lead the team in doubles wins with 10 apiece, one more than Lizzy Katzenberger and two in front of Haley Parker. … Gaston and Lizzy Katzenberger headed into the Panthers' spring trip riding a seven-match doubles winning streak. … As a team, Hanover boasts a 58-13 mark in singles play — including 45-2 in HCAC action — while going 33-6 in doubles. … Hanover is 8-0 at home this season, while going 4-0 on the road and 0-1 in neutral-site matches.
