MANKATO, Minn. — The Saint Mary's University men's and women's track and field teams are back on the track on Friday, as the Cardinals head to Minnesota State-Mankato to take part in the Maverick Invitational.

Kyle Lichttenegger (De Pere, Wis.) broke his own school records in both the 55 and the 200 at last Saturday's Meet of the Hearts. The senior clocked a time of 6.55 in the 55, before blowing away his old mark in the 200, stopping the clock in 22.36 en route to winning both events. … Lichttenegger has now equaled or broke five school records this season. Along with his school marks in the 55 — which he has now broken three times — and the 200 at the Meet of the Hearts, Lichttenegger also broke the school mark in the long jump at the UW-Stout Open on Jan. 25, posting a jump of 7.32 meters. … Lichttenegger's 7.32 effort in the long jump — which earned him his first MIAC Field Athlete of the Week honor — is currently the fourth-longest jump in NCAA Division III this season. … Christian Beamer (Two Harbors, Minn.) and Sean Curran (Appleton, Wis.) also recorded first-place efforts for the Saint Mary's men at last Saturday's Meet of the Hearts — with Beamer winning the high jump (2.00m), while Curran grabbed top honors in the weight throw (15.28m) — while Sydney Klausler (Lakeville, Minn.) recorded Saint Mary's other first-place finish, winning the 200 in 26.69 to lead the way for the Cardinal women. … The Cardinals combined for two school records, 10 first-place finishes and 25 Top 5 performances at the Luther Invitational on Feb. 8. Lichttenegger and Beamer led the way for the Cardinal men — accounting for both school records and four of the team's six first-place showings. Lichttenegger set a then-school record time of 6.57 in winning the 55, while adding a first-place leap of 6.71 meters in the long jump. Beamer, meanwhile, cleared a school-record 2.02 meters to win the high jump, and delivered a winning jump of 12.28 meters to take home the triple jump crown. … The Cardinals recorded a pair of first-place finishes and posted 13 Top 10 finishes at the Warren Bowlus Invitational on Feb. 1. Rachel Ohde (Chetek, Wis.) and Klausler led the Cardinals' charge, picking up first-place finishes in the high jump and long jump, respectively. Ohde cleared 1.58 meters en route to her high jump win, while Klausler uncorked a leap of 5.22m to win the long jump. … The Cardinals posted 11 Top 10 performances at the UW-Stout Open on Jan. 25. … The Cardinals recorded seven first-place finishes and 23 Top 3 efforts — at the non-team-scored, season-opening Cardinal Early Birdinal on Jan. 18. … The Saint Mary's men finished with 20 top-five all-time performances in 2019 — including 9 school records — with the women adding 10 top-five all-time performances in 2019. … The Cardinals boasted a school-record seven NCAA Division III Outdoor National Championship qualifiers in 2019 — including returning high jumpers Beamer and Ohde, and three members of the 4x100 relay team — Matt Boone (Mindoro, Wis.), Noah Anderson (St. Paul, Minn.), and Lichttenegger. … The Cardinals collected four All-MIAC performances at the 2019 regular season-ending MIAC Outdoor Championships — including three from Lichttenegger. Lichttenegger finished second in the 200 (22.00) and third in the long jump (6.99 meters), while joining Boone, Anderson, and Desmond Steward (Bayside, Wis.) to finish second in the 4x100 relay (41.94). … Lichttenegger holds the outdoor long jump school record at 6.99 meters. … Indoors, the Cardinals posted four Top 3, All-MIAC performances at last season's MIAC Championships — led by Ohde, who cleared 1.65 meters on her first attempt en route to an All-MIAC second-place finish in the high jump.
