COLLEGEVILLE, Minn. —Â
Kyle Lichttenegger had so much fun breaking records on Friday, that the Saint Mary's University senior decided to pick up right where he left off on Saturday.
Â
A day after uncorking a school- and conference- record leap of 7.56 meters in the long jump — the top performance in all of NCAA Division III this season and the 13th-longest in NCAA Division III history — Lichttenegger was at it again during the second day of the MIAC Indoor Championships.
Â
Only this time, Lichttenegger had a little help.
Â
Lichttenegger teamed with
Matt Boone,
Garrett Jackson, and
Noah Anderson to break the school record in the 4 x 200 relay, clocking a conference-winning time of 1:29.24.
Â
And that wasn't the end for the Cardinal senior.
Â
Running in his final event of the championships, Lichttenegger blistered a school-record time of 22.09 to claim his second conference crown — this one in the 200.
Â
Christian Beamer got into the All-MIAC act, placing third in the high jump, clearing 1.98 meters, while Sydney Klausler — who earned All-MIAC honors with a second-place showing in the long jump on Friday — chipped in a seventh in the 200 Saturday, stopping the clock in 26.46.
Â
Anna Swanson added a 13th in 600 (1:41.62) and Nathalie Freire posted a 16th in the pole vault (2.70m) for the Cardinal women, who also got an eighth-place effort (1:51.87) from the 4 x 200 relay team of Klausler, Hannah Crowe, Madison Weis, and Alica Schurrer; and a 10th (4:24.66) from the 4 x 400 relay team of Swanson, Crowe, Schurrer, and Weis.
Â
Beamer posted an 11th-place leap of 12.82m in the triple jump, with
Thomas Walker close behind, notching a 12.50m jump to place 15th, while
Jake Homan delivered a 14th in the shot put (12.35m) for the Saint Mary's men, and the 4 x 400 relay team of Anderson, Jackson,
Jake Hogan, and Boone added a seventh-place time of 3:27.05.
Â
Fueled by Lichttenegger's three conference titles, the Saint Mary's men placed ninth in the team standings, with the Cardinal women finishing 10th.
