  SAINT MARY'S CARDINALS SCOUTING REPORT
After opening the season with a pair of losses to Luther on March 7, the Cardinals earned a split with Northwestern (Minn.) last Thursday, falling 7-0 in the opener, before bouncing back with a 10-7 win in the nightcap. … Saint Mary's 10-7, Game 2 win was the first collegiate coaching victory for Cardinals' interim head coach Sam Borawski … Paige Gudmundson (Plainview, Minn.) — one of five different players to account for Saint Mary's five Game 1 hits vs. Northwestern Thursday — delivered three more hits in the nightcap. Erin Sullivan (Wisconsin Rapids, Wis.), Jordan Meyers (Eyota, Minn.), and Lexi Brooks (Searcy, Ark.) all had two Game 2 hits for the Eagles. … Mackenzie Carey (Prescott, Wis.) and Haley Williams (Littleton, Colo.) collected the Cardinals' two Game 1 hits against Luther on March 7, while Amy Kulaga (Riverside, Ill.) and Cassie Sutor (Chicago, Ill.) each had two hits in the nightcap. … Gudmundson, Sullivan, Kulaga and Brooks all share the team lead in hits with four each through four games. … Kulaga is the team-leader in runs scored with 3, while sharing the team's top spot in doubles (2) with Brooks. … Saint Mary's has recorded six extra-base hits among their 28 hits through four games — five doubles and one triple. … All 11 of the Cardinals' hits against Luther on March 7 were singles. … Justine Schultz (Winona, Minn.), Amber Chow (West St. Paul, Minn.), and Sullivan — who all closed out 2020 riding five-game hitting streaks — were held hitless in the opener against Luther on March 7.
  ST. SCHOLASTICA SAINTS SCOUTING REPORT
The Saints enter Sunday's doubleheader against Saint Mary's already sporting an 11-2 overall record — including a 3-1 showing at the MMU Collegiate Slugger Series in Peoria, Ill., on March 5-6. … St. Scholastica opened the season with six straight wins, before falling to Luther 8-0 on Feb. 28. A 10-6 Game 2 win against the Norse jump-started a four-game win streak, which was snapped with a 7-3 loss to the University of Dubuque in the final game of the MMU Collegiate Slugger Series on March 6. … The Saints, who will join the MIAC at the start of the 2021-22 season, have four doubleheaders slated against MIAC schools this year. Along with Saint Mary's, CSS will also face St. Olaf, Augsburg, and Gustavus. … Olivia Howe leads a potent St. Scholastica offense that boasts seven regulars who are hitting above .300. Howe is the team-leader, boasting a .457 batting average, followed by Kari Breuer (.452), Mara Seurer (.400), Nicole Anders (.387), Joseie Fourre (.468), Heidi Stewart (.333), and Aislind Dail (.303). … Breuer is the team-leader in hits (19) and runs (17), while Howe owns the team lead in doubles (7), RBIs (14), total bases (26), slugging percentage (.743) and on-base percentage (.537). … Breuer, Fourre, and Dail own the Saints' three triples, and Toni Bishop has belted two of St. Scholastica's four home runs, with Howe and Dail accounting for the other two. … Breuer has had two or more hits in a game in six of CSS's 13 games this season. … Fourre put together a team-high nine-game hitting streak earlier this season. No Saint currently has a hit streak of more than two. … CSS has stolen 15 bases in 18 attempts, led by Breuer with five steals in six attempts. … St. Scholastica's pitching corps includes just two hurlers through 12 games — Howe (5-1, 1.79 ERA) and Haley Rosenthal (5-1, 3.00 ERA). Howe has tossed 39.0 innings with six complete games and 43 strikeouts, while Rosenthal has hurled 37.1 innings with six complete games and 29 strikeouts. … St. Scholastica has scored 20 runs in the first inning, while plating 12 runs in both the third and fifth, and 17 runs in the fourth. … The Saints are 9-0 when scoring the game's first run and are a perfect 5-0 when scoring in the first inning.
