The Cardinals home-opener against UW-Platteville marks their first home contest in 698 days, dating back to April 28, 2019 when Saint Mary's split its season-ending doubleheader with Bethel. … Saint Mary's picked up its first doubleheader sweep of the season last Sunday, taking a pair of nonconference victories from Augsburg — beating the Auggies 10-5 and 6-0. … Mackenzie Carey (Prescott, Wis.) was perfect from the plate in the opener against Augsburg last Sunday, going 4-for-4 with an RBI and a pair of runs scored. With their 8-4 win over Coe on Wednesday, the Pioneers snapped their four-game losing streak and moved their overall record to 2-4. After opening the year with a 5-4, Game 1 win over Concordia (Wis.), UW-Platteville dropped games to Concordia (Wis.) (5-4), MSOE (5-4, 5-0), and Coe (4-3), before beating the Kohawks in Game 2. … Shannon Gaul was the offensive leader for the Pioneers against Coe on Wednesday, going 6-for-7 with a home run and six RBIs.
