  SAINT MARY'S CARDINALS SCOUTING REPORT
The Cardinals head into their regular-season finale sporting a 2-5 conference mark as part of a 4-7 overall record. … Saint Mary's closed out the home portion of its schedule on a winning note last Sunday, blanking Concordia 9-0. The win over the Cobbers was Saint Mary's first 9-0 sweep of the season. SMU also owns two 6-3 victories and one 7-2 triumph. On the flip side, the Cardinals have suffered one 9-0 loss, three 8-1 defeats and two 7-2 decisions to go along with their 5-4 loss to Northwestern on April 2. …  … All four of the Cardinals' wins this season have come on their home courts. Saint Mary's is 0-4 away from the Winona Tennis Center this season. … Trevor Smiley (Minnetonka, Minn.) enters Saint Mary's regular-season finale with a team-leading seven singles wins. Smiley put together a career-high six-match singles winning streak this season that was snapped against Saint John's on April 10. … Smiley's seven singles wins — one at No. 2, one a No. 3, and five at No. 4 — are two more than Josh Janssen (Eau Claire, Wis.) and Reilly Fredell (Colorado Springs, Colo.). … Evan Huemoeller (Owatonna, Minn.) recorded his first collegiate singles win against Northwestern on April 2, posting a 3-6, 6-2, 10-1 win at No. 2. … Huemoeller is third Cardinal to post his first collegiate singles win this season. E.J. Hietala (Duluth, Minn.) notched his first win against Loras on March 6, while Fredell recorded a 6-3, 6-1 vs. Hamline on March 19 for his win No. 1. … Fredell leads the team with six doubles wins, one more than Gabe Graves (Littleton, Colo.) — who is the Cardinals' lone senior. … Saint Mary's has used six different doubles combinations at No. 3. … The Cardinals' 5-4 loss to Northwestern on April 2 snapped the Cardinals' 13-match winning streak against the Eagles. … With their wins over Loras and Wartburg, and loss to Northwestern, the Cardinals are now 67-25 in nonconference matches since 2012.

Carleton comes into its match against Saint Mary's unbeaten in 2021, boasting a 2-0 record in conference play and sitting at 3-0 overall. … Carleton has beaten St. Olaf (9-0), St. Thomas (7-2) and Luther (5-4) thus far this season. … With their wins over St. Olaf and St. Thomas, the Knights are now 5-0 In their last five conference matches, having gone 2-0 in 2020, before the pandemic shut down the season, and its final MIAC contest in 2019. … Leo Vithoontien — and NCAA Division III All-American in 2019 — is a perfect 3-0 in singles play, while Yuv Kataria, Xander Roti, and Aswath Viswanathan have all won twice. … Vithoontien is the only Knight to play all three matches at the same singles spot, going 3-0 at No. 1. … Carleton has had three different players combine for a 3-0 record at No. 5 singles. … Kataria/William Walsh and Aniketh Vipparla/Viswanathan are both 2-0 in doubles play, while Vithoontien/Xander Zuczek are 2-1. … As a team, Carleton is 13-5 in singles play, while going 8-1 in doubles. The Knights' lone doubles loss was an 8-7 (10-5) loss at No. 1 against Luther.
