  SAINT MARY'S CARDINALS SCOUTING REPORT
The Cardinals head into their showdown at Saint Benedict sitting at 5-11 in conference play as part of a 8-20 overall mark. … With their sweep of Augsburg last Saturday, Saint Mary's improved to 4-0 against the Auggies this season Saint Mary's beat Augsburg 10-5 and 6-0 in a nonconference doubleheader on March 21. … Both of the Cardinals' wins over Augsburg last Saturday were walk-offs. Hallie Schmeling (Onalaska, Wis.) belted a two-run double to give SMU the 5-4 win in Game 1, while Justine Schultz (Winona, Minn.) smacked a two-run double in the bottom of the ninth for a 7-6 Game 2 win. … Schultz and Schmeling each had five hits in the Cardinals' sweep of Augsburg. … Schultz and Jordan Meyers (Eyota, Minn.) each had two hits in the Cardinals' 6-0, 10-1 losses to Bethel last Sunday. … Amber Chow (West St. Paul, Minn.) is hitting a team-high .352, while Jordan Meyers (Eyota, Minn.) and Schultz (.310) are also hitting above .300 through 28 games. … Schultz has scored a team-leading 15 runs, while also leading or sharing the team lead in hits (27), doubles (6), and total bases (37). … Chow owns a team-high 15 RBIs and leads the Cardinals in slugging percentage (.437) and on-base percentage (.434). … Paige Gudmundson (Plainview, Minn.) leads the team with seven stolen bases, one more than Meyers and two in front of Schultz. … Chow has posted a team-high nine multiple-hit games — including a pair of three-hit performances — and owns a team-best five multiple-RBI games. … Schultz and Sullivan each put together team-high five-game hitting streaks this season, but Schultz's four-hit run is the longest active hitting streak. … Mackenzie Carey (Prescott, Wis.) was perfect from the plate in the opener against Augsburg on March 21, going 4-for-4 with an RBI and a pair of runs scored. It was Carey's first four-hit game of her collegiate career. … Meyers recorded her first collegiate three-hit game in Game 2 against Gustavus on April 17, going 3-for-4. … Cassie Sutor (Chicago, Ill.) and Erin Sullivan (Wisconsin Rapids, Wis.) each hit home runs for the Cardinals in the second game against Gustavus — Sutor's a solo shot, while Sullivan's was a three-run blast. … Sutor has now hit two lead-off home runs this season, having blasted her first collegiate round-tripper against Hamline on April 10. … Chow (6-10, 5.52 ERA) leads the Cardinal pitching staff in innings pitched (89.2), appearances (21), starts (14) and strikeouts (52). Chow has thrown eight of the Cardinals' nine complete games this season. … Chow struck out a career-high 10 batters in the Cardinals' 2-0 loss to Gustavus in the first game of their doubleheader on April 17. … Sutor (2-7, 8.80 ERA) has thrown 60.1 innings in 18 appearances and has struck out 32. … Saint Mary's put an end to their season-high five-game losing streak with an 8-2, Game 2 win over Gustavus on April 17. … Saint Mary's scored half of its 16 runs against Hamline on April 10 in the fourth inning — plating four fourth-inning runs in each game. … Saint Mary's has scored first in four of its eight wins, but the Cardinals are just 4-17 when their opponent scores the game's first run. … The Cardinals' 10 runs in their Game 1 win over Augsburg on March 21 marked the second time this season SMU has scored in double figures.   SAINT BENEDICT BENNIES SCOUTING REPORT
The Bennies enter their conference doubleheader against Saint Mary's riding an eight-game winning streak. CSB is 15-3 in conference play with four MIAC contests remaining, while also boasting a 23-5 overall record. … CSB's 10-0 and 17-4 wins over Macalester Tuesday were the fifth and sixth straight wins shortened by the eight-run rule. … Macalester's four runs in the bottom of the fifth inning of Game 2 Tuesday snapped the Bennie's scoreless inning streak at 46. CSB had posted seven straight shutout wins and had not allowed a run since surrendering two in the top of the fourth inning against St. Olaf on April 17. CSB has outscored its opponents 84-4 during its current eight-game win streak. … Saint Benedict is hitting .336 as a team, and boasts nine players with 50 or more at-bats who are hitting above .300 — led by Lexi Hanson (.400), Bryn Carlstrom (.390), Gabby Spencer (.376), and Jordyn Swoboda (.354). … Spencer is the team-leader in at-bats (93), runs (31), hits (36), and total bases (59). … Hanson and Carleton have each belted 10 doubles, while Carlson also leads or shares the team lead in home runs (6), RBIs (24), and slugging percentage (.709). … Spencer has amassed 13 multiple-hit games — including a pair of three-hit performances — and Tori Harren owns a team-leading eight multiple-RBI efforts. … The Bennies have had three players — Harren, Spencer, and Katie Carlson — drive in five or more runs in a game this season. … CSB has had seven players account for its 26 home runs this season. … The Bennies have swiped 63 bases in 73 tries through 28 games, led by Spencer with 20 and Swoboda with 11. … Elly Novak (15-1, 0.98 ERA) and Ally Hjort (7-3, 2.21 ERA) have been the workhorses of the Bennie pitching staff, tossing 99.2 and 63.1 innings, respectively. … Novak has made a team-high 18 appearances, including 16 starts, owns 13 complete games, and has tossed eight shutouts. … Hjort has made 12 appearances in the pitcher's circle with 10 starts and seven complete games. … Novak has struck out 143 batters and opponents are hitting just .135 off her. … Saint Benedict, which played 10 of its first 12 games on its home diamond, owns a 11-5 record at the CSB Softball Complex, while going a perfect 12-0 on the road this season.
