• FOR THE RECORD: The Cardinals head into their conference matchups against Macalester and Bethel sitting at 8-5 overall, while owning a 1-3 conference mark through four league matches.

• LAST TIME OUT: The Cardinals picked up their first MIAC win of the season, getting singles and doubles wins from Emily Henderson (Jordan, Minn.) en route to a 6-3 victory over Concordia last Sunday in Fargo, N.D.

• WINNING BIG: Four of SMU’s seven wins have been 9-0 sweeps, while three victories have been by 8-1 counts. SMU’s 6-3 win over Concordia last Sunday rounds out the Cardinals’ eight victories.

• LEADING THE CHARGE: Zoie Becker (St. James, Minn.) heads into this weekend’s matches against Macalester and Bethel leading the Cardinals with 10 dual-match singles wins — having won three straight and eight of her last 10. … Natalie Peterson (St. Cloud, Minn.) is second to Becker with eight singles wins, one more than and Ashley Renwick (Farmington, Minn.). … Renwick is riding a six-match winning streak and has gone 8-2 in her last 10 singles matches. … Henderson’s straight-set win against Concordia last Sunday was her third straight victory.

• RACKING UP THE WINS: Becker closed out the 2021 season winning four of her last five matches to end the year with a team-high 11 singles wins, and now owns a 30-8 career singles record.

• SINGLED OUT: The Cardinals collected nine singles victories at last fall’s ITA Regional/Midwest Open, led by Renwick, Henderson, and Peyton Buerman (Shawano, Wis.) with two each.

• COLLEGIATE FIRSTS: Buerman and Renwick picked up their first collegiate singles wins for the Saint Mary’s women’s tennis team at the 2021 ITA Regional/Midwest Open on Sept. 24-25. Buerman outlasted Northwestern’s Taylar Smith 7-6 (7-4), 1-6, 10-6 and Renwick followed suit with a marathon, 6-0, 3-6, 10-4 victory over Caroline Hutchinson of Wartburg. … The Cardinals had four athletes record their first collegiate singles wins in 2021 — Henderson, Peterson, Sarrianna Hoffer (Wausau, Wis.), and Maddie Dosser (South St. Paul, Minn.).

• GOING THE DISTANCE: Four of the six singles matches in SMU’s 8-1 loss to Saint Benedict on Feb. 26 were stretched to a third set, including a 1-6, 6-1, 10-2 win by Peterson at No. 1. The other two singles matches vs. the Blazers included a first-set tiebreaker.

• DOUBLING UP: The doubles teams of Peterson/Kennedy Morgan (Green Bay, Wis.) and Henderson/Dosser share the team lead with six wins each. … Peterson/Morgan are 6-4 — all at No. 1 doubles — while Dosser/Henderson are 3-0 at No. 2 and 3-3 at No. 3. … SMU has used two doubles combinations at No. 1 and four at No. 3, while having five different pairs team up at No. 2.

• HOME SWEET HOME: The Cardinals, who played their first seven matches on their home court, boast a 5-2 record at home, while going 3-3 away from the Winona Tennis Center. … SMU has picked up nine of its last 13 wins at the Winona Tennis Center.

• BRING IN THE BROOMS: Saint Mary’s posted three straight 8-0 doubles wins in their 9-0 victory over Martin Luther on Jan. 29.

• NEAR-PERFECT: The Cardinals dropped just 11 games in its nonconference match against Bethany Lutheran on Feb. 26, posting 8-0 and 8-4 wins in doubles (plus a forfeit victory at No. 3), and adding a pair of 6-0, 6-0 sweeps by Kailee Johnson (Rochester, Minn.) and Peyton Buerman (Shawano, Wis.), while dropping just seven games in the other four singles contests.

• UNBEATABLE: The Cardinals remained unbeaten against Bethany Lutheran all-time with their 9-0 win over the Vikings on Feb. 26. All nine Cardinal wins against the Vikings have been 9-0 sweeps.

• DOMINANCE: With their 9-0 win over Martin Luther on Jan. 29, the Cardinals ran their winning streak over the Knights to 16. SMU is 17-1 overall against MLC — and have won the last eight meetings between the two teams by 9-0 counts.

• PROGRAM FIRSTS: The Cardinals’ spring trip matches against Calvin, Houghton, Piedmont and Mount Vernon Nazarene were all the first meetings in program history.

• TAKING CARE OF BUSINESS: With their 2-2 showing in Orlando, Fla., the Cardinals improved to 73-22 against nonconference opponents since 2012.

• FOR THE RECORD: The Scots enter their Saturday showdown against Saint Mary’s sitting at 4-5 overall, including a 1-1 mark in their first two conference matches of the season.

• LAST TIME OUT: Macalester closed out its four-match spring trip to Orlando, Fla., with a 2-2 mark — beating Stevenson (8-1) and Curry (7-2), while falling to St. Thomas (Fla.) (7-0) and MSU-Moorhead (6-1).

• ON THE ROAD: The Scots have not played an official home match this season, going 1-1 in road matches, while sporting a 3-4 record in neutral-site contests.

• SWEPT AWAY: The Scots have not won more than one match in its five losses — being swept twice (9-0 and 7-0, while falling 8-1 (twice) and 7-1 in their other three setbacks. On the flip side, Macalester’s wins have come via scores of 9-0, 8-1, 7-2 and 6-3.

• STREAKING: Macalester has won back-to-back matches twice en route to its four wins, while the Scots’ five losses have come via two-match and three-match losing streaks. 

• SINGLED OUT: Amanye Reynolds enters the weekend leading the Scots with eight singles wins, one more than both Sydney Ellison and Arista Siebrits. … Siebrits has played every match at No. 1 singles, while Ellison has been the only Scot to play at No. 2. Macalester has had two different players see action at Nos. 3, 4, 5, and 6. … As a team, Macalester is 36-23 in singles play.

• DOUBLING UP: The doubles teams of Siebrits/Ellison and Emma Baker/Laurel Hickey have both teamed to post seven victories, one more than the team of Amalin Sorajja/Natali Sorajja. … Siebrits/Ellison have played every match at No. 1 doubles, as have Baker/Hickey at No. 3. … As a team, the Scots are 20-10 in doubles play this season.

• FOR THE RECORD: The Royals head into their match against Saint Mary’s sitting at .500 (6-6) through 12 matches this season, including a perfect 2-0 mark through their first two conference matches of the year.

• LAST TIME OUT: Bethel closed out its five-match spring break on a winning note last Thursday, beating St. Lawrence 8-1. It was BU’s second straight spring-trip win and left BU 2-3 during its stay in Orlando, Fla.

• ROAD WARRIORS: BU’s matchup against Saint Mary’s on Sunday is its 13th consecutive road match. Following Sunday’s showdown, the Royals will play back-to-back home contests against Hamline and Saint Benedict over the next two Saturdays. Bethel will play just four of its 17 matches this season on its home courts.

• STREAK SNAPPER: The Royals put an end to their season-high four-match losing streak with a 9-0 win over Carthage on March 16. Three of the four losses during BU’s four-match slide were by 5-4 decisions.

• SINGLED OUT: Grace Riermann heads into Sunday’s matchup against Saint Mary’s a perfect 12-0 this season — with all 12 wins coming at No. 1 singles. … Sydney Rott is second to Riermann with nine wins, followed by Elise Bierbaum and Emma Thole with six each. … Along with Riermann’s 12-match winning streak, Rott has won her last four singles matches and is 8-2 in her last 10. … Rott has played all 12 matches this season at No. 2, while BU has used two different players at Nos. 3, 4, and 5, and three have seen action at No. 6. … As a team, Bethel is 45-26 in singles action through 12 matches.

• DOUBLING UP: Along with her perfect 12-0 showing in singles, Riermann has not lost in doubles either, teaming with Rott to go 12-0 at No. 1. Thole/Ingrid Goldstrand are second on the team in doubles wins with six. … BU has used two different doubles combinations are No. 2, and six different pairs have teamed up at No. 3. … As a team, Bethel is 22-14 in doubles action.
