SAINT MARY’S SCOUTING REPORT:
• FOR THE RECORD: The Cardinals head into their conference matchup against Carleton sitting at 7-6-3 overall, while sporting a 2-5-2 record in five conference contests..
• LAST TIME OUT: Saint Mary’s outshot Macalester 12-9, including 6-2 in shots on goal, but came up empty each time, as the two teams battled to a 0-0 draw in their conference showdown Wednesday at Macalester Stadium in St. Paul, Minn. 
• HOME ON THE ROAD: The Cardinals, who went 6-1-2 in their nine home games last season, have collected five of their seven wins this season on the road. SMU is 5-3-1 in nine road contests, while sitting at 2-3-2 at Ochrymowycz Field. 
• THROWING UP ZEROS: All seven of SMU’s victories this season have been by shutout — 6-0 over UMN Morris, 2-0 vs. Bethel, and 1-0 over Beloit, Lawrence, UW-Stout, Concordia, and Grinnell. … All told, 13 of SMU’s 16 games this season have been decided by shutout — the lone exceptions, 2-1 losses to Wartburg and Gustavus, and a 1-1 tie against St. Scholastica last Saturday. … Twenty-seven of Saint Mary’s last 35 games have been decided by shutout — including 16 of SMU’s last 18 wins.
• THROWING UP ZEROS II: The Cardinals’ 0-0 draw against Macalester on Wednesday was their second scoreless stalemate of the season, having also played to a 0-0 tie against UW-Stevens Point on Oct. 1. The two 0-0 mark the first time SMU has played to two scoreless ties since the 2021 season.
• ONE OR NONE: Saint Mary’s has been held to one goal or less in 14 of its 16 games this season, the lone exceptions — a 6-0, season-opening win UMN Morris on Sept. 1 and a 2-0 win over Bethel on Oct. 7.
• FAST STARTS: The Cardinals have scored a goal before the eight-minute mark in six of its 14 games this season. Genesis Capacio (Las Vegas, Nev.) scored at 7:09 against UMN Morris on Sept. 1, Laura Ashe (Beaverton, Ore.) needed just 2:55 to put SMU out front against Wartburg on Sept. 3; Ella Lahart (Sherwood, Ore.) found the back of the net 7:52 into the first half against Beloit two days later; Samantha Munson (Plain City, Utah) scored at 2:19 of the first half vs. Lawrence on Sept. 9; Ashe struck quickly again against Bethel on Oct. 7, finding the back of the net at 2:49; and Lahart scored just 4:30 after the opening kick against St. Scholastica on Oct. 14.
• SPREADING THE WEALTH: Saint Mary’s 16 goals this season have come from nine different players, led by Munson and Leonard, who have each netted a team-best three goals. Ashe, Lahart, and Lauryn Skoruppa (Littleton, Colo.) have all scored twice, while Capacio, Brooklyn McKinney (Thornton, Colo.), Hannah Bradley (Portland, Ore.), and Sadie Chrusciel (Geneva, Ill.)  own SMU’s other four goals.
• CAREER FIRSTS: Saint Mary’s has had three players net their first collegiate goals this season. Chrusciel tallied her first goal as a Cardinals in SMU’s 2-1 loss to Gustavus on Sept. 27; Bradley netted her first collegiate goal in SMU’s 6-0 win over UMN Morris on Sept. 1, while Ashe’s first-half tally against Wartburg two days later was her first as a Cardinal.
• CAREER FIRST II: Munson collected her first collegiate multiple-point game, scoring once and assisting on two others for a four-point effort in SMU’s 6-0 win over UMN Morris on Sept. 1.
• LENDING A HAND: Munson and Peyton Maier (Elk River, Minn.) share the team lead with three assists each, while Leonard has two helpers, and Lahart, Ashe, McKinney, Anna Warneke (Maple Grove, Minn.), Kaelyn Clasen (Kent, Wash.), and Kaylen Pray (Port Townsend, Wash.) have all collected one.
• POINT PRODUCER: Munson sits atop the team’s points race with nine (3 G, 3 A), followed by Leonard with seven (3 G, 1 A). Ashe is third with six (2 G, 2 A), followed by Lahart with five (2 G, 1 A), and Skoruppa with four (2 G).
• BETWEEN THE PIPES: Anna Peckosh (Cedar Rapids, Iowa) has played a team-high 856:14 minutes, including 10 starts, in goal for the Cardinals, compiling a 0.95 goals-against-average and a .780 save percentage. McKenzie Munson (Plain City, Utah) and Megan Nadal (Chino, Calif.) own SMU’s other six starts, with Munson (0.20 GAA, .958 save %) stopping 23 of the 24 shots she’s faced in 460:32 minutes, while Nadal has stopped all eight shots in 123:14 minutes.… Peckosh has made a team-high 32 saves in 12 games. … Munson posted a career-high 10 saves in SMU’s 2-0 win over Bethel on Oct. 7. … Peckosh’s two-save effort against Macalester was her second shutout of the season.
• GOALKEEPING FIRSTS: Munson recorded her first collegiate win and first career shutout — in her first collegiate start, a 1-0 win over Beloit on Sept. 5. … Peckosh stopped a career-high eight shots in racking up career shutout No. 1 against UW-Stevens Point on Oct. 16, 2022. … Peckosh made her first collegiate start against UW-Stout on Oct. 5, 2022, stopping both Blue Devil shots she faced in 45:00 of play, while making her first appearance in a Cardinal uniform on Sept. 17, 2022, making three saves in 22 minutes of relief in SMU’s 3-0 loss to Saint Benedict. … Nadal made her first collegiate start on Sept. 21, 2022 against Luther, stopping seven first-half shots.
• CRUNCHING THE NUMBERS: Saint Mary’s has scored 11 of its 16 goals this season in the first half. … Saint Mary’s has allowed just 10 goals in 15 games — four in the first half and six in the second. … SMU has outshot its opponents 225-172, including 106-73 in shots on goal. … SMU’s six goals against the Cougars on Sept. 1 are the most since SMU poured in 11 goals against Martin Luther on Sept. 6, 2021.
CARLETON SCOUTING REPORT:
• FOR THE RECORD: The league-leading Knights head into Saturday’s home matchup against Saint Mary’s sitting at 14-1-1 overall, including a near-perfect 8-0-1 showing in conference play.
• LAST TIME OUT: Carleton erupted for three second-half goals, breaking a 1-1 tie and leading the Knights to a 4-1 win over Wartburg Wednesday evening in Waverly, Iowa.
• FAST STARTS: Anna Borkowski’s goal less than three minutes into the first half, marked the fourth time in the last five games in which Carleton has scored in the opening five minutes.
• HOME SWEET HOME: Saturday’s game against Saint Mary’s is the final home contest for the Knights, who close out the regular-season schedule at Saint Benedict on Oct. 28. Carleton sports a near-perfect 8-0-1 record on their home field, while going 6-1-0 away from Bell Field.
• STREAKING: With their 4-1 victory over Wartburg on Wednesday, Carleton extended its winning streak to seven, and its unbeaten streak to 13. … After opening the season with back-to-back wins over St. Norbert and North Central, Carleton suffered its lone loss of the season, a 1-0 setback to Simpson on Sept. 6. Carleton has gone 12-0-1 since that loss.
• SHE SHOOTS AND SCORES: Carleton has scored 46 goals in 16 games and has gotten at lest one goal from 13 different players. … Kathryn Kresse leads the way for the Knights with seven goals, one more than Ashlyn Heigh and two up on Casey MacVeagh, Cale Patterson, and Piper Dean. … MacVeagh and Patterson have each posted multiple-goal games this season — MacVeagh netted a pair of goals against Hamline on Oct. 14, and Patterson scored three times against UW-River Falls two days later.
• LENDING A HELPING HAND: Kresse is also the team-leader in assists with seven. MacVeagh is second to Kresse with six, followed by Patterson )5), Lauren Caldwell (3), and Saheli Patel (3). … MacVeagh, Patterson, and Patel have all collected two assists in a game this season.
• POINT PRODUCTION: With her seven goals and seven assists, Kresse sits atop the Knights’ points lead with 21. She is one of four Carleton players who have reached double digits in points, being joined by MacVeagh with 16 (5 G, 6 A), Patterson with 14 (5 G, 4 A), and Caldwell with 11 (4 G, 3 A).
• BETWEEN THE PIPES: Ezra Kucur and Avery Trapp have shared the goalkeeping duties for the Knights this season, with each making eight starts. Kucur boasts a 0.41 goals-against-average and an .889 save percentage, while Trapp owns a 0.46 GAA and .846 save %. … Kucur has stopped 24 of the 27 shots she’s faced this season, with Trapp making 22 saves on 26 shots. … Kucur and Trapp have each recorded four shutouts.
• CRUNCHING THE NUMBERS: The Knights have outscored their opponents 46-7 — and have not allowed more than one goal in a game through their first 16 contests. … Carleton holds a whopping 369-108 advantage in shots, including 188-53 in shots on goal. … The Knights have scored 18 goals in the first half, and added 28 after the intermission. Carleton’s opponents, meanwhile, own three first-half goals and four in the game’s final 45 minutes. … The Knights have posted a season-high six goals twice this season — beating Bethel 6-X on Sept. 23 and UW-River Falls 6-X on Oct. 16.
