NORTHFIELD, Minn. — Chris Bulwa took center stage for the Saint Mary's University track and field teams, placing fourth in the 60-meter dash during the opening day of the two-day Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Indoor Championships Friday at St. Olaf College.
 
Bulwa improved on his seventh-place qualifying time in the 60, stopping the clock in 7.02 to finish fourth and lead the SMU men to an 11th-place showing heading into Saturday's second day of the two-day event.
 
Anna Becker and Samantha Kubes led the way for the Cardinal women, finishing sixth and seventh in the weight throw with marks of 14.46 meters and 14.42 meters, respectively, leaving the Cardinal women 11th after the opening day.
 
Case Fritz also picked up a top 10 showing for the Cardinals, uncorking a throw of 15.37 meters to finish sixth in the weight throw, while both the men's and women's distance medley relay teams also posted top 10 times. Grant Schneider, Eddie Paton, Cade Kloss and Sean Smyth put together a time of 10:51.49 to finish in the men's DMR, while Meghan Frosch, Abbie Meyer, Caeli McMahon, and Kendra Klobe teamed to stop the clock in 13:53.17 to finish 10th in the women's DMR.
