• 3-0: Matt Besek (Winona, Minn.) closed out the SMU men’s tennis team’s spring trip a perfect 3-0 in singles play, and now leads the team with eight singles victories this season.
• 3-0: Elena Ruzevich (Chicago, Ill.) picked up singles wins in all three of the Saint Mary’s women’s tennis team’s spring-trip matches last week.
• 4: Ali French (Winona, Minn.) delivered a single-game career-high four RBIs in the SMU fastpitch softball team’s 17-9 win over Emmanuel.
• 4: A.J. Ruskowski (Traverse City, Mich.), Colin Tushie (Prior Lake, Minn.), Noah Kiemel (Colorado Springs, Colo.), and Kellen Tharaldson (Wausau, Wis.) all earned MIAC post-season honors for the SMU men’s hockey team, with Ruskowski, Tushie, and Kiemel being named All-MIAC, while Tharaldson was selected to the MIAC All-Playoff Team.
• 4-4: Riley Bauman (Stratford, Wis.) went a perfect 4-for-4 in the Cardinal baseball team’s 9-5 loss to Dominican last Monday.
• 4 + 5 + 4: Makayla Steffes (Winona, Minn.) enjoyed quite a game in the SMU fastpitch softball team’s 17-9 win over Emmanuel last Monday, going 4-for-4 with five runs scored and four RBIs.
• 5: Makayla Steffes’ (Winona, Minn.) five runs scored against Emmanuel last Monday were most since Alex Raske scored five times against Macalester on April 22, 2015.
• 5 x 3: The Cardinal baseball team put together three, five-run innings to beat Illinois Chicago (twice) and Marian. SMU scored five runs in the fifth inning of 5-2 and 10-5 wins over Illinois Chicago on March 3, before racking up five runs in the bottom of the ninth inning of a 7-6, walk-off win over Marian two days later.
• 7: Andrew Fischer (La Crosse, Wis.) recorded his third career complete game, going all seven innings — allowing two runs on five hits — in the SMU baseball team’s 4-2 Game 1 win over Saint Joseph’s last Saturday.
• 8: Five Saint Mary’s women’s hockey players collected eight MIAC post-season awards, led by Sophia Paduano (Westby, Wis.), who was named All-MIAC and the MIAC Rookie of the Year. Reese Heitzman (Hermantown, Minn.) and Celia Midtbo (Minneapolis, Minn.) were also All-MIAC selections, while Allie Urlaub (Burnsville, Minn.) and Celeste Rimstad (Richfield, Minn.) were honorable-mention All-MIAC and members of the MIAC All-Playoff Team.
• 8+ x 2: The SMU fastpitch softball team put together eight- and nine-run innings during its spring trip last week, scoring eight times in first inning of its 17-9 win over Emmanuel last Monday, before erupting for nine runs in the top of the seventh in a 15-11, eight-inning win over Penn State Behrend last Thursday.
• 8-1 x 2: The Saint Mary’s women’s tennis team closed out its spring trip with back-to-back 8-1 wins over both Albion and King’s College last Wednesday.
• 8 x 2: Saint Mary’s played back-to-back eight-inning games last Thursday, beating Heidelberg 3-2, before rallying from a 7-1 deficit with nine runs in the top of the seventh inning and adding five in the top of the eighth in beating Penn State Behrend 15-11 later in the day.
• 10: The Cardinal baseball team stole 10 bases in its doubleheader sweep against Saint Joseph’s last Saturday — including six in their 4-2 Game 1 win and four more in the 11-3, sweep-clinching Game 2 win.
