SAINT MARY’S SCOUTING REPORT:
• FOR THE RECORD: The Cardinals head into their matches against UMN Morris and Concordia sitting at 5-5 overall, while sporting an 0-3 mark in conference play.
• LAST TIME OUT: Saint Mary’s closed out its three-match spring trip to Orlando, Fla., with a 2-1 record, falling to Adrian 7-2, before bouncing back with a pair of 8-1 wins over Albion and King’s.
• WINNING BIG: Fifteen of SMU’s last 21 wins have either been 9-0 or 8-1 decisions — including a 9-0 sweep of Crown and four 8-1 victories this season.
• ROAD WARRIORS: Saint Mary’s is in the midst of playing six straight matches on the road. After a road matchup against St. Catherine on March 2 and three straight matches in Orlando, Fla., SMU will play on the road against both UMN Morris and Concordia this weekend, before finally returning home for an MIAC match against Bethel. … SMU is 11-11 in its last 22 home matches — including 1-3 this season and 4-4 in 2023. … SMU has picked up 15 of its last 25 wins at the Winona TC.
• NEW TERRITORY: The Cardinals’ September showdown with UW-River Falls marked the first time in head coach Jeff Halberg’s 25-year tenure that SMU has played a dual match in the Fall of the academic year. 
• STREAKING ALONG: With their 8-1 win over UW-RF on Sept. 16, Saint Mary’s has now faced the Falcons 20 times since 1997 — winning all 20 contests.
• STREAKING ALONG II: With their 8-1 victory against Martin Luther on Jan. 28, 2023, the Cardinals ran their winning streak over the Knights to 17. SMU is 18-1 overall against MLC — and have won nine of its last 10 between the two teams by 9-0 counts. … Saint Mary’s has dropped just 12 games in its nine doubles matches against the Knights over the last three years.
• PERFECTION: The Cardinals did not drop a game in their 9-0 sweep of Crown on Feb. 16 — winning all three doubles matches 8-0, and taking all six singles contests by identical 6-0, 6-0 outcomes.
• SINGLED OUT: Elena Ruzevich (Chicago, Ill.) heads into the weekend owning a team-leading six singles wins, one more than Ella Boomgaarden (St. Peter, Minn.), Emily Dondelinger (Bemidji, Minn.), and Natalie Peterson (St. Cloud, Minn.), while Emily Henderson (Jordan, Minn.) and Kathryn Stiegel (Sauk Rapids, Minn.) both own four singles victories. … Ruzevich heads into the weekend riding a three-match singles winning streak. … Henderson closed out 2023 with a team-high eight singles wins. … As a team, Saint Mary’s is 22-20 in singles play this season.
• WIN NO. 1: Dondelinger, Ruzevich, and Lillian Kimber (Duluth, Minn.) have all picked up their first collegiate singles wins this season. … Dondelinger and Ruzevich both posted win No. 1 in SMU’s 8-1 victory over UW-River Falls on Sept. 16, while Kimber picked her first win as a Cardinal against King’s on March 6.. … Stiegel was the lone SMU player to pick up her first collegiate singles victory last season, winning 6-2, 6-3 against Bethany Lutheran on Feb. 25, 2023.
• MIXING THINGS UP: Saint Mary’s has used at least two different players at every position this season. SMU has used five different players at No. 5 singles, three at No. 6, and two at each of the other four spots. The Cardinals used at least two different players at all six singles positions in 2023. Two different SMU players competed at No. 1 singles, while four competed from the No. 2, No. 3, and No. 4 slots, and five lined up in the No. 5 and No. 6 positions.
• DOUBLING UP: The Cardinals have had eight different doubles combinations account for their 15 doubles wins this season — with Boomgaarden/Peyton Buerman (Shawano, Wis.) and Ruzevich/Peterson leading the way with three victories. … Individually, Peterson, Ruzevich, and Boomgaarden have all collected five doubles victories, followed by Henderson and Buerman with four. … As a team, SMU is 15-14 in doubles play this season.
• TAKING CARE OF BUSINESS: Thanks to their 5-2 show in their seven nonconference matches this season, the Cardinals are now 83-23 against nonconference opponents since 2012.
UMN MORRIS SCOUTING REPORT:
• FOR THE RECORD: The Cougars head into their nonconference match against Saint Mary’s on Saturday still searching for their first win of 2024, having dropped their first seven contests.
• LAST TIME OUT: St. Catherine had little trouble dealing UMN Morris loss No. 7 on the year, cruising to a 9-0 nonconference victory at Baseline Tennis Center in Minneapolis, Minn., on March 8.
• ROAD WARRIORS: Saturday’s match against Saint Mary’s is the eighth straight road or neutral-site contest for the Cougars, who will have played 10 consecutive “road” contests before opening their home schedule against UW-River Falls on April 2.
• LIMPING IN: Not only has UMN Morris suffered seven consecutive losses to open the season, but the Cougars have been swept in four of those seven contests — and have won just four individual matches total. UMN Morris has come up empty in losses to UMN Crookston, Northwestern (Iowa), Midland U., and St. Catherine, while falling 6-1 to both Mornington (Iowa) and the College of Saint Mary, and dropping a 5-2 decision to Mount Marty.  
• SINGLED OUT: Allison Bruhn and Kristen Muller are the only Cougars to pick up singles victories through seven matches, Bruhn winning at No. 3 and Muller at No. 5. …. UMN Morris is 0-7 at Nos. 1, 2, 4, and 6. … The Cougars have used at least two different players at all six singles positions, including four at both No. 5 and No. 6.
• DOUBLING UP: Jhazlyn Wynne and Mariah Mireles own the Cougars’ lone doubles victory, teaming up for a default win at No. 3 against Mount Marty on Feb. 11. … As a team, UMN Morris has used eight different doubles combinations and are 1-20 in doubles play this season. 
 CONCORDIA SCOUTING REPORT:
• FOR THE RECORD: The Cobbers head into their weekend matches against Gustavus and Saint Mary’s sitting at 3-14 overall, while still searching for their first conference victory, going 0-5 against league foes thus far in 2024.
• LAST TIME OUT: CC concluded its five-match spring trip to Orlando, Fla., by splitting their matches against Ursinus and King’s. The Cobbers dropped a 6-3 decision to Ursinus, before rebounding with a 9-0 sweep of King’s.
• STREAK SNAPPER: Concordia’s 9-0 win over King’s on March 7 snapped the Cobbers’ season-high nine-match losing streak. The win over King’s was CC’s first since edging Northwestern (Minn.) 5-4 on Feb. 10.
• ROAD WARRIORS: Saturday’s match at Gustavus will be the Cobbers’ ninth in the last 10 contests, the lone home match, an 8-1 loss to St. Catherine on Feb. 25. Concordia’s MIAC showdown against Saint Mary’s on Sunday is the first of three straight home contests for the Cobbers. … CC is 1-4 in its five home contests this season, while sitting at 2-10 on the road.
• SINGLED OUT: Erin Borchard heads into the weekend leading the Cobbers with six singles wins, one more than Lizzie Allan, while Anna Hacker and Mary Skorich are tied for third with four. … Concordia has used at least two different players at all six singles positions, including four at No. 5 and three at No. 6. … As a team, Concordia is 28-74 in singles play this season.
• DOUBLING UP: Borchard/Raquel Egge lead the Cobbers with three doubles wins as a pair, while the doubles teams of Allan/Annalise Skrade, Egge/Skorch, Allan/Hacker, and Ava Lowman/Skrade have all combined for two wins. … Individually, Allan and Egge lead the team with five doubles wins, followed by Borchard and Skrade with four. … As a team, CC is 14-37 in doubles action.
