ST. PAUL, Minn. — Saint Mary's University track and field coach
Darren Schneider has got to be hoping his Cardinals' return trip to the Hamline next weekend is as successful as Friday's was.
The Cardinals — who will make a second straight trek to St. Paul, Minn., and the Hamline track and field complex for the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Outdoor Championships next Friday and Saturday — posted 24 Top10 finishes in their final outdoor championships tune-up at Hamline's Meet of the unSaintly.
Chris Bulwa and
Samantha Kubes led the way for the Cardinals, with Bulwa breezing to a first-place finish in the men's 200, breaking the tape in 21.54, while Kubes delivered a throw of 50.65 meters to win the women's hammer throw.
Bulwa also collected a second first-place showing, teaming with
Ben Kritsberg,
Jinwoo Jung, and
Oliver Adamson to win the 4x100 relay with a time of 43.34, while Adamson also earned a third-place time of 10.81 in the 100.
Gabe Schonknecht raced to a second in the steeplechase with a time of 10:28.78, with
Isaiah Fitzgerald (5,000, fourth, 16:46.65),
Grant Schneider (steeplechase, sixth, 10:51.97),
Henry Gathje, javelin, seventh, 39.81m),
Dan Cooper (triple jump, seventh, 12.09m; long jump, eighth, 6.01m),
Antonio Cisewski (long jump, ninth, 5.94m),
Ron White (shot put (ninth, 12.00m), and
Cannon Manley (110 hurdles, 10th, 16.85) also delivering Top 10 performances fort he Cardinal men.
Isabella Schei followed up Kubes' first-place effort with a se3cond in the javelin (31.65m) and
Morgan Wallendal capped a busy afternoon with a third in the shot put (12.30m) to go along with a seventh in the discus (33.27m) and a ninth in the hammer (42.49m).
Kubes placed fifth in the shot put (11.58m), while
Samantha Munson (200, fifth, 26.22); 100, sixth, 12.79),
Sydney Jackman (shot put, sixth, 11.38m),
Megan Frosch (1,500, sixth, 4:30.94),
Erica Wright (shot put, seventh, 10.84m), and
Brooklyn Gutierrez (high jump, sixth, 1.30m) also put together Top 10 efforts.
