Match Summary vs. Luther
WINONA, Minn. — Saint Mary's University women's tennis coach
Jeff Halberg wasn't about to make any excuses for his team's 8-1 nonconference loss to Luther Sunday afternoon at the Winona Indoor Tennis Center.
He didn't have any — his Cardinals played well, the Norse just played better.
"This was a great match," Halberg said. "We competed very well today. Luther is a solid team and they also played well — just a little better than we did.
"We had a number of matches that really could have gone either way, and, unfortunately for us, none of them went our way."

Rebecca Snyder# (Eden Prairie, Minn.) collected the Cardinals' lone win vs. the Norse, outlasting Luther's Kelsie Allen 6-4, 4-6, 10-4 at No. 2 singles. #
Bailey Edwards# (Fond du Lac, Wis.) dropped a heartbreaking 2-6, 6-3, 10-1 decision at No. 1 singles, while #Brittany Nielsen# (Apple Valley, Minn.) was a tough-luck 7-6, 6-2 loser at No. 6 singles.
"I'm very proud of the way this team battled," said Halberg. "We get a bit of a break now and then we really get into the meat of our conference season. Hopefully a few days off will get us rested and ready to go."
