OWATONNA, Minn. — The Saint Mary's University women's tennis team ran into a buzz saw Saturday afternoon, as St. Olaf rolled to an 8-1 Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference victory over the Cardinals.
“(St. Olaf) got off to a quick start and we just never recovered,” said SMU coach
Jeff Halberg. “St. Olaf is a very good team and today, we just never seemed to get our game on track.”
The Oles swept through the doubles matches, winning 8-3, 8-4 and 8-3, beore winning five of the six singles matches in straight sets.
Rebecca Snyder (Eden Prairie, Minn.) collected SMU's lone singles win, posting a 7-5, 7-5 victory over St. Olaf's Caitlin Harper at No. 2 singles.
The Cardinals are back in action on Sunday, traveling to St. Paul, Minn., for a conference match against St. Catherine.
