WINONA, Minn. — The Saint Mary's University women's tennis team made it look easy Wednesday afternoon, as the Cardinals closed out the nonconference portion of their schedule with an impressive 8-1 victory over UW-River Falls at the Winona Tennis Center.
“It was a solid performance on our part,” said SMU coach
Jeff Halberg. “The score might indicate that this was a bit of a cakewalk, but it wasn't. The ladies played extremely well today, and they were rewarded for those efforts with an impressive 8-1 win.”
The Cardinals swept all six singles matches — five in straight sets, while
Samantha Franklin (Schaumburg, Ill.) was taken to a third set before outlasting UW-River Falls' Amy Johnson 6-4, 3-6, 10-7 at No. 6.
