ORLANDO, Fla. — One streak came to a screeching halt, while two others continued on for the Saint Mary's University men's tennis team Tuesday.
Michael Lunka (Eagan, Minn.) and
Bobby Steingraeber (La Crosse, Wis.) kept their season-long winning streak in tact — winning for the ninth straight time.
Sam Puff (Eden Prairie, Minn.), meanwhile, pushed his singles win streak to eight in a row with a straight-set victory at No. 3 singles.
The trio's efforts, however, were not enough, as the Cardinals' four-match winning streak came to an end with a 7-2 nonconference loss to Ursinus College.
Lunka-Steingraeber collected SMU's lone doubles win, as the juniors recorded an 8-5 victory at No. 1 to improve to 9-0 overall. Puff chipped in a 6-4, 6-0 victory at No. 3 singles, but that was it for the Cardinals.
SMU (7-3 overall) closes out its spring trip on Wednesday, squaring off against Clark University in a nonconference match.
