ST. PETER, Minn. — Several members of the Saint Mary's University women's tennis team will be taking part in the USTA-ITA Midwest Region Championships and Gustie Fall Invitational, hosted by Gustavus, beginning Friday and running through Sunday.

The Swanson Indoor Tennis Center, located on the west edge of the Gustavus campus in St. Peter, Minn., will serve as headquarters for the USTA/ITA Midwest Region Championships, with matches taking place at Swanson and the adjacent Brown Outdoor Courts.

Sixty-four of the top singles players and doubles teams in the Midwest will take part in the tournament, which will begin with singles matches on Friday morning at 9 a.m. Tai Lucero of Coe comes in as the No. 1 overall seed in the singles draw of the USTA/ITA Midwest Regional. Behind Lucero sits second-seeded Victoria Bravo of St. Catherine, third-seeded Alexandra Bayliss of UW-Whitewater, and fourth-seeded Anne Lombardi of Carleton. The doubles competition will begin on Friday immediately after the completion of the second round of singles play. The duo of Anne Lombardi and Michaela Becich from Carleton will enter the tournament as the top-seeded doubles team. They will be challenged by second-seeded Victoria Bravo and Kylie Ketcho of St. Catherine, third-seeded Alexandra Bayliss and Jackie Vitale of UW-Whitewater, and fourth-seeded Annie Mahoney and Michaela Schulz of Gustavus.
