MEQUON, Wis. — It's been nearly three weeks since the Saint Mary's University women's tennis team had competed, but when the Cardinals took the court on Friday there was no signs of rust, as SMU handed Concordia (Wis.) an 8-1 nonconference setback.
"It was a good performance all the way around," said SMU coach
Jeff Halberg. "Top-to-bottom, everyone put together a good effort."
The Cardinals swept through the three doubles matches en route to a 3-0 lead, then picked up straight-set wins in five of the six singles matches — dropping just 12 games in the process.
SMU (3-2 overall) are now off until March 15, when they travel to the Baseline Tennis Center in Minneapolis, Minn., for a 10:30 a.m. Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference match against Hamline.
