WINONA, Minn.  — The Saint Mary's University women's tennis gears up for a busy weekend, as the Cardinals head to the University of Minnesota Baseline Tennis Center in Minneapolis, Minn., for a 7 p.m. conference match against St. Catherine on Friday, before returning home for a noon MIAC showdown with Gustavus on Saturday and a 9 a.m. nonconference matchup against Morningside on Sunday.

And on the court, the Cardinals learned first-hand that the Wildcats were deserving of that perfect record and national ranking. The Wildcats started strong — and finished stronger — as SCU swept the first three doubles matches and never let up in cruising to a 9-0 MIAC win at the Winona Tennis Center.

SMU vs. Gustavus— Their Last Meeting:
April 13, 2013: SMU coach Jeff Halberg would have loved to have watched his Cardinals knock off perennial MIAC power Gustavus. And while the Gusties proved to have too much firepower, the Cardinal head coach certainly found plenty of silver linings in the 8-1 loss — the shiniest of which was the performance of senior Deanne Webber (Reedsburg, Wis.), who dropped the first set of her No. 3 singles match 6-2, but rallied for a thrilling 2-6, 6-3, 10-7 victory to account for SMU's lone singles win.

SMU vs. Morningside — Their Last Meeting:
March 6, 2013: SMU found the competition doubly tough, as the Cardinals not only battled a talented Morningside College team, but they also had to overcome windy playing conditions. And try as they might, the Cardinals could not overcome either, as Morningside handed SMU a heartbreaking 5-4 nonconference setback in the team's final match of their spring trip to Orlando, Fla.
